I had labrum repair surgery 2 years back. It worked pretty well for me but it was a long recovery. 3-4 months sounds WAY optimistic. I've heard other docs say the same thing about that surgery, but most physical therapists will tell you for most people it's more like 6-8 months. Mine was about 6 months, and that involved diligently going to the gym or physical therapy at least 3 times a week. Good luck.
If I were you and could wait a little bit, I'd see what happens without surgery first. Once you have surgery, your shoulder will never be quite the "same". If a few months go by and it's not getting better, then it's time to consider it. I waited almost a year before I finally gave in....
I called the Dr. today, and asked the receptionist to have him call me about the surgery. She said that he was with patients all day, and a nurse would call me. That was at 830AM and it's after 3PM, and I've heard nothing.
I want to get it, and get it over with if I'm going to get it at all. I'm a little miffed, because after the amount of money they will get from my insurance from last weeks visits, you think they would kind of have something to say to me.
