I gave a guy a negative once because his ship time was pretty long, and he charged me more on shipping. His auction stated buyer to pay actual shipping. Well, almost a month of waiting for the items (a few guitar stupid guitar catalogs) I got pissed and left him a negative right after I received the items and saw the inflated shipping price. He neg'd me back out of retaliation, and it's the only neg I have. He's no longer a registered member anyway. Fuck 'em!

Once he's no longer a member, is your negative feedback removed? Or does it stay?

I don't think so. Negs stay even when members are de-registered.

So then what is a seller to do when he's hit with NUMEROUS idiots on ebay that try to "blackmail" you with negative feedback if you don't give them a discount on an item after they received it?

Sorry, bro, I completely learned my lesson on ebay the hard way and will not fall for that crap ever again. I wait until the buyer leaves feedback FIRST as it shows me they were happy and satisfied with our transaction. If they're not, then we work it out until then.

                Cover your ass, I say!!!

Seriously, I' have no idea how much any of you have sold on ebay, but until you walk a mile........well, you know.....

I'm with you dave. Feedback should not be left until the deal is complete. But how do you know the deal is "done"? As a seller, you don't really know until the buyer has left you feedback. As a buyer, you know the deal is done when you get the gear and are satisfied with it. So the buyer should be the first to leave feedback. If the seller leaves feedback after receiving payment, he's simply leaving feedback on how fast the guy pays. The deal can still come crashing down after that happens...

Exactly, communication is key and quite honestly, if there's no communication, someone's being shifty or just plain irresponsible. Especially since ebay now has direct emailing with their own messaging system.

I can sort of see the point, but I still think it's bullshit when a seller says they'll leave feedback after feedback is left for them. If you're paid quickly from a buyer, leave him feedback. Don't worry about retaliation. Just my two cents.

I agree with Budman 100%. Some buyers (very few really) are complete idiots, and make the waiting for feedback and contact by a buyer a neccessary way of doing business on eBay. I have no problem waiting on feedback from a seller until I leave it. I normally overdescribe my auctions, and I will always offer a money back guarantee minus shipping in my auctions. Those two things, and my straight up requirements in my listings have kept me trouble free selling on eBay. Knock on wood...

I do know that the deal will be silky smooth if I buy something and the seller immediately leaves me feedback.

+1. I wait for the buyer to leave feedback. I sometimes guarantee my stuff and it is agonizing to wait for the feedback. My fukking lamps were a good example. He was very happy. When a seller leaves immediate feedback, I know it's good.
