oh man, I saw these vids recently and Anselmo was not only out of place, he was terrible.

his cookiemonster voice may be good for Pantera, but he sucked brown ass trying to actually sing with a melody.

I'm incredulous that Jerry would pick a non-singer like Anselmo to sing AIC tunes on stage.

I have not heard this other guy AIC has singing, hopefully he can actually sing.

I'd like to see any of you fuckos get on stage and sing this shit after years of substance abuse, screaming at the top of your lungs, and then have to deal with an unpleasant sound mix. I think Phil did a fine job.

And no, I doubt Dime and Layne are in their graves going, "oh my god these guys are sell outs now, they are probably just in it for the money, booo!" Give it a rest.

        :ROTF: :ROTF:

you can either sing or you can't. he can't. live with it.

and I don't give a rats ass about his personal problems. boo fuckin hoo, he abused himself with drugs, who cares? he sounded like total shit. from the other comments, obviously I'm not the only one who got this impression.

A shit job is a shit job. He's supposed to be a pro singer, he sucked. It's not karaoke night, though that might've been better.

As for them spinning in their graves, Layne would spin because Jerry let Phil slaughter his song. Dime would be spinning because Phil's acting reverent now but shit-talked him relentlessly for 2 solid years before he died. NOW he's trying to gain sympathy for his loss. I think Vinnie nailed it on the head
with his recent comments on Phil, and he if anybody has the right to call it as he sees it.
          Ron is the MAN!!!!

Well there is nobody that can replace Layne. Anselmo wouldn´t be my first choice for AIC but that was a cool gesture non the less.

You've apparently never heard old Pantera like the Cowboys From Hell and the Vulgar Display of Power albums, have you? Phil is a very good singer and really never did "Cookie Monster" vocals.

Sorry, but claiming that Phil can't sing is just wrong... I mean come on... it didn't sound that bad, sure it could've sounded better, but I thought it was fantastic to see/hear Phil sing again after all shit that's been going on.

His voice has changed quite a bit over the years, but listen to the second Down album... his worn whiskey voice is the best ever IMO!!! He's number one for me, and he'll always be! He's an amazing singer and can do just about anything with his voice.

I'm no fan of Phil. When I first saw they were going to have him sing "Would?", I kinda sat back uncomfortably and rolled my eyes and wondered what the thought process behind that decision was, but in all honesty, he did the song justice. It wasn't Layne, and there's a ton of people who could have done it better, but it wasn't horrible. I've heard worse...

For those who think Phil is a non-singer, go back and listen to "Cemetary Gates". Think again. That's a good tune no matter how you slice it.

I think Phil did a great job on this song! I can't imagine how incredible it must have been to be there.

Edit - special mention to Sean Kinney for kicking fuckin ass on his parts. He hasn't lost a step.

Out of all the singers out there, I'm VERY surprised that they used Phil. ESPECIALLY since he had/has a serious herion problem. You'd think they would have learned to steer away from that shit after Layne died from herion. Hope they don't become known as the band with two singers kickin off from herion...
