for too long eurovision has been about appalling bubblegum pop or sugary ballads, atrocious songwriting and even worse 'performances'.
As Lordi said at the press conference afterwards, this is a big opportunity for other forms of music to take part, rock,metal, r&b, hip hop etc, and its definately a BIG middle finger to the bubblegum crap that has made eurovision pretty much a laughing stock in the last 10 years or so when everyone grew up and realised how really SHIT it is.
Perhaps now we'll see genuinely good performers/song writers/bands entering without fear of their careers nose diving into oblivion after a eurovision entry..
