  • Pointy Picks! Love em!!!

I just bought (by mistake) these pointy pics they are called "Sharp" ya know the tortex ones? I have to say they make for a bit speedier pickin...anyone else use/like/hate em?

I use Dunlps "Big Stubby" 3.0mm picks. When new they have a nice point on them. The extra bit of a point is nice.

Never used the ones you mentioned I don't think, but I can understand what you mean.

The tip comes to a point similiar to those stubbies you mentioned and I like the point instead of the standard more rounded pick. I guess really I am just bored

I like the Dunlop Tortex black gold 1.14 picks with the sharp point. They're the same size and shape as the Jazz III's. I can't play with a regular sized pick anymore. These things have spoiled me for life.

I can't play with regular flat picks anymore either. The finger grooves in the stubbies are too comfortable and makes it easier to hold on to.

I have used the purple Dunlop Tortex for years. I started sharpening them myself a couple of years ago. They feel so much more precise, and have a nice clean attack. I find it difficult playing with the regular rounded ones now.

I used to swear by them, but I have recently fallen in love with Dunlop Ultrex heavys.

It amazes me at the sizes I have gone through since I first started playing. I started out with these ultra thin picks and gradually went heavier.

Only thing I don't like about the fat stubbies is the price. About $10 for a pack of 6!

nah i still use the regular round ones...i noticed that a pick is very crucial to the sound and it actually can change the sound when using a proper pick... i used to use any pick i found.. then i walk on the street i see a dunlop 1 mm black pick... fell in love

also..i was jamming in my local music store and they were giving out free picks.. they had these thick CARTBOARD picks with like nylon coating or something.. they are so damn awesome.. so crisp sounding.. amazing for cleans

and i also started from thin picks moving to thick picks.. i guess its natural like that
If the crowd is shouting for an encore, but the sound guy is shaking his head, ignore him and play anyway

+1 ...I have used the blue ones. Yeah you can sharpen them by rubbing them on the carpet. I think the pointy ones are more precise and agree on the attack as well. Hate the round picks now Anyone remember the copper pics way back when....maybe they still make them I dunno

                        Amazing timing!
I just went to every music shop in town and couldn't find the tortex sharps! I ended up ordering some in, and cant wait to try them. I used to strictly use heavy gels, and love them, but after playing a stubby at my old man's on his jazz guitar I got hooked with the quick attack and articulation, really made me sit up and concentrate. After finding the red one to thin and the purple one to small, I tried a purple big stubby but it was too thick. So I hunted down dunlops website and found the best of both worlds - Tortex Sharp!
Something smooth enough to riff with, but sharp enough for speed runs and sweep picking, cant wait to use them!
