  • Any J-Pop / J-Rock fans?

So a couple of days ago I started checking out some bands and artists from Japan.. I really like what I' ve found so far

The more rock/metal bands I found are Dir en Grey, they are pretty well known already i think.. Do As Infinity, L' Arc en Ciel.. very nice too. Electric Eel Shock, these guys are awesome! Check out there song "rock and roll can rescue the world", it's available for download on their website.

And I also enjoy listening to pop.. I like Aya Ueto (she also plays Azumi) and Ayumi Hamasaki.. and to a lesser extent Ami Suzuki, and Koda Kumi..

My favourite new found artist is Aika Kawanase.. great rock music, nice vocals.. I found of clip of her performing with marty friedman on guitar

If you haven' t heard of these bands.. check them out..
And for those of you who are more familiar with this, can you recommend me more cool jrock or jpop artists/bands? thanks

(and now were on the Japan subject.. could anyone please translate this:

    "Tamashii wa ikiteru kai?
    Kimi no naka no jiyuu
Kurabe datte imi mo nai nai
    Sore ga jiyuu" )
"I hate these filthy neutrals! With enemies, you know where they stand. But with neutrals... who knows? It sickens me!"

Check out B'z and Every Little Thing(GREAT!).
I've got some CDs of Every Little Things and they are my favorite. Female singer.
Oh yea, Ayumi Hamasaki is hot.
I even took her name for my second daughter.

    Oh, as for the translating,
    "Is a spirit alive?
    Freedom inside of you
    No need to compare with
    That's what freedom is"

I'm a fan of Boris and Corrupted; both are from Japan, but I don't think they're what you're talking about/looking for (doom)

Ayumi Hamasaki is CREEPY looking with her giant (surgically enhanced?) bug eyes. *shudder*

Ayumi is hot, but the pic audiophile posted creeps me out haha

I love J-Pop and J-Rock. I got obsessed with it when I was heavily into anime and manga and japanese culture as a whole.

Most of it stayed behind and I still love Japan and their music.
You took too much, man. Too much. Too much.

Well,I think that most of us get into J-music from anime and manga. After all japanese cartoons have kick ass music (at least compared to the lame italian themes...),listen to the dragon ball song "we gotta power", it has a killer shred guitar solo!!

My favorite unsigned band here is a group called 'Candy Druggers' from Osaka. Mid 80's LA influence with a modern agressive sound. They kick ass live. The bassist is a monster player. I'd post a link, but the CD is at home and I am at my office.

Of course there's always Puffy Ami Yumi!

Tell me El_Kabong...are they still well recieved there?...Or are they thought of as "sellouts" because of the cartoon thing?
