Easy Tiger.
I'm not on your payroll. My employer is the faceless type, an entity believed to exist but physical proof of life is limited to the signature on my paycheck.
I don't manage any facilities of that kind. I work with iron, not bones. Of the iron variety, I manage five, with one hundred thirteen employees. Are you head hunting me with these questions? How's the night life in Bossier City?Tarbaby Fraser.

..I have cut out a good deal of intrnet use at work and I don't use it everyday but it is good for a short escape. We have a policy and they do track sites and time usage. The company had guys let go that were abusing internet use.
I limit my time to 15-20 minutes during breaks and thats it. Usually news, eBay, sometimes traffic or check email. Even though its my time..I have to recognize and observe the fact its their system.
and I agree... having an iron grip can backfire.. sometimes you have to let people get refreshed and relinquish the rules to a reward.. an extra 5-10 minutes on a break on occasion... IF they're doing well production wise and not letting mistakes happen...Last edited by charvelguy; 05-31-2006, 02:48 PM.

Before the internet you had water cooler talk, newspapers, books, walkmans, etc and I would let people do that as well.
Perhaps people in your industry would one day wake up to realized that its not 1964 anymore their "employees" would have better customer service/peoplel skills...just a thought.shawnlutz.com

So, keep your "thoughts" to yourself because as far as my business, it's employees, it's success, or my "tone," you're yapping out your ass.
