Matt...the data doesn't go away even with a format C:/U
That just splits the encrypted data into different segments on the drive.
There is high tech software that can put this back together.

True, there is software that can recover almost any kind of format except a low level format but an Unconditional format "/U" is very hard to recover from since it overwrites every byte of data. The average user is not going to have that kind of software or even know how to use it.
Be careful using a Low-Level format becuase I have seen it kill a lot of drives.
And ya know, if it is that critical of data, why is it on your drive anyways ? Someone could easily break into your house and steal your who frekin PC, then all the have to use is Windows Explorer to get all your data.
