Very glad to see you started this thread, JTR. I'm very thankful for the sacrifices and the accomplishments of those men and women on that day. Despite all of the documentaries and movies made it about it, I don't think any of us will ever fully understand what it must have been like to go in by boat or parachute into France for the invasion.Takeoffs are optional but landings are mandatory.
