OK, I'll try to address the original post in a (semi)reasonable manner...

Dude, before you go off on a rant about unconstitutional, illegal, bribery or whatever actions, try getting a clue about what you're talking about. You would be hard-pressed to be less informed on the subject. There is a fair bit of lattitude in terms of what and what is not permitted to be trademarked, etc.

In any event, to make a long story short, Gibson was recently bitch-slapped by the Court of Appeals in their suit against Paul Reed Smith alleging the PRS Singlecut was a copy of the Les Paul. And the Supreme Court refused to hear an appeal of the case, so the COA appeals ruling stands:

Does that mean PRS and other manufacturers can start making blatent rip-offf copies of the Les Paul? No. Does it mean they can safely make Les Paul-ish-like body styles that are similar-yet-different. Yes.
