  • whats the coolest thing you have seen at a gig?

I am wondering what are some of the coolest things you guys have ever seen at a gig. I admit I have not been to many concerts but I would have to say that seeing Cryptopsy play was one of the coolest things I have ever seen. The put on a great show!

GWAR and Kiss and Iron Maiden have been the most aesthetically and visually pleasing. Awesoem stage shows.

However, musically I think Megadeth puts on the best show I've ever been too.

The METALLION - During Priest's Defenders tour they had the Metallion (the critter from the cover) on stage. Laser eyes blasted through the crowd, it blew smoke, and did all kinds of other wicked stuff. I think it's paw even hefted Rob up in the air if I remember correctly. Fukkin' awesome show!

I agree with GG about Megadeth - I saw "Vic and the Rattleheads" at a small venue in Tempe several years ago (Electric Ballroom) and it was absolutely awe-inspiring to watch that man play those guitar parts AND sing at the same time. Just amazing!

          KISS Show

Most wildest thing I seen was at a Kiss Concert at Red Rocks Ampitheatre around 90'-91. They Broke into "God of Thunder" and you could see lightning and hear thunder all around the Red Rocks, Rain pouring down. After the song was over, the weather was back to normal. pretty wild.

Another cool thing was the Tool/Meshuggah show. At the time I did not really know Meshuggah but the Tool set was very cool. Lots of cool visuals on the tyrano vision screen (they played at the Xcel Center) and great lighting.

Deep Purple at Knebworth in '85-ish.
Ritchie's solo spot. He's playing "Difficult To Cure" with a bloody great laser projection of Beethoven conducting behind him!

At the recent Joe Satriani/Eric Johnson show in LA Steve Vai came out for the encore. They played "Going Down" and then my favorite song of all time, "Red House." The version of "Red House" they did blew the doors off of what they did on the DVD 10 years ago.

The only time I have been scared to take my eyes off the stage are a Lords of Acid show and seeing Nashville Pussy for the first time before owning any of their albums and not being too famaliar with their work. Whenever a large chested woman in a bra and leather pants can climb a scaffold while ripping strings from her guitar, I say go for it.

Seeing Metallica open for Ozzy, David Bowie's Sound Vision tour, all the chicks stripping before GnR played here in Dallas. It was before the Use Your Illusion stuff came out, the actual show was ok.

For me it was most of the time, what was happening in the parking lot walking by before the show as well as standing waiting to get in. I've seen some pretty funny, wierd, wicked and sad stuff go down before the shows.

I was a young boy when my mother took me and a friend to Giant's Stadium to see the Beach Boys and Steve Miller Band. We were on the field. The lady standing in front of us was wearing tight white shorts. From the back it looked like someone had hit her between the legs with an ax. Guess she forgot her tampon that day.

We laughed about that one well into adulthood.
