+1 on the two topless chicks making out. I can't remember what show it was but the two hot topless chicks were making out and one of the camera crew was filming them (which was being projected onto the two huge displays on either side of the stage) and everyone started cheering, men and women... Everyone loves lesbian porn.

Bible thumpers getting in a fight with some dudes that were wearing black metal shirts for me was probably one of my fondest concert memories.

The fucking mindless crack addicts up in Vancouver's not-so-nice side of town are pretty crazy as well. There are just these horribly thin people just standing on the sidewalks totally fucking oblivious to the world and then suddenly something breaking their trance and they start walking around like zombies, even groaning. Then on top of that there are the ones that are just picking through everything on the sidewalk / gutters looking for some rocks. Crazy shit.

Well, I went to see the Genatorturers and got to see a chick pierce her nipple on stage...and they also used an angle grinder to wail away on this dude wearing an iron mask..that was pretty cool.

One night I went to see this totally shitty band called "MC 900 Foot Jesus" at Tip's in New Orleans. The bar was pretty empty and the crowd drunk and not happy. Someone threw a beer at the band....the DJ guy started to talk smack to the crowd...so the guy threw an entire pitcher at him and shorted out and trashed all his "scratchin' gear". Then the NOPD detail cop that was at the door chased the guy in and out of the bar and finally caught him. He was beating the shit out of him in the middle of the floor while the guy's GF was on the cop's back pulling his hair and screaming.

Needless to say, they both went to jail....and were probably beaten some more later.

The band left, and everyone clapped and went back to what we do best down here..drinking.

Sleep. The sound doesn't collapse to riffs of early eyes either.

Giants Stadium (summer of '92?) Axl Rose throwing a temper tantrum and throwing his mic down because his monitor system stopped working... then he came back and got hit in the balls with a lighter in the middle of Knocking on Heaven's Door. Slash and Duff sang the rest of the song, told the audience we were dicks and Axl wasn't coming back out. End of show! Heh, at least Metallica played before them. I'm surprised there wasn't a riot at that show!

I was seeing Hypocrisy and Nile play in Santa Ana. There was a slew of terrible bands opening. One of them was Soilent Green. The best part of the show was when the lead singer started acting like a retard during a guitar solo, jumping around, playing air guitar, he ran across the stage, tripped on the lead guitar's cable, and his Marshall head came crashing down. The crowd was completely dead during their set up until that point.

Naked chicks underneath me in the back of the tour bus!

I've been to literally hundreds of shows. Between being a music TV show host, a professional guitar tech and playing in a touring band, I go to an average of 3 shows a week when I'm NOT on tour.

I think one of the coolest things I've seen was a show we played where the huge audience went so nuts that they were swarming the band like ants, moshing and hanging on us. I couldn't hear myself too well because there were three dudes standing between me and my speaker cabinet directly behind me, the only one of my band members I could see was Alex my drummer, who's kit was getting demolished but he never dropped the beat. At one point he had only the snare and high hat, his kick drum, toms and cymbals were all wiped out onto me. His cymbal stand got bent and a drummer from another band that we're friends with stood there and held his cymbal for him the whole set! We owe that dude a beer! I was fortunate in that I had a couple of "bodyguards" that made a circle around me and kept the moshers from totally blowing me off my feet, and I have learned to lean in back first to the pit and keep kids from knocking my hands out of position. It's kind of like playing guitar and rugby at the same time.

Then at another show we we're playing in Oxnard, CA outdoors in the afternoon and the crowd was going nuts, and the guitars were real loud, and I remember looking out across the skyline and seeing three church steeples in the horizon. It was one of our huge crashing guitar doom parts, and the whole stage was shaking with our amps, and I remember feeling like I was channeling the evil of Tony Iommi right there!! It was just sort of a cool feeling that came over me.

One of the most fun shows we played was on tour in Portland. We showed up and it was going to be in this dude's garage and two of the other bands cancelled, but this was an afternoon show and we had another one that night with a good gaurantee, and the kids were really cool, so we got stoked. They had a stage set up in the garage and a rope hanging from the ceiling. Right before we started playing all the kids started putting on suits of armor made out of cardboard that said stuff like "SHOW ME YOUR GRINDORE!" and they had swords and stuff! Once we started playing they began beating the shit out of each other! They were swinging into each other from this rope on the celing and one kid was riding a bike over the kids on the ground! We played our set and then just jammed an extra half an hour to watch these kids go! No matter how big this band gets I will always make time to play that kid's garage!

And of course I've had all the nice experiences with girls at concerts that are fun, but we have younger members!! HAHA!!

I wouldnt classify it as cool......I was at the infamous GnR "Riverport Riot" here in St. Louis in 1991.... Friggin place was torn apart!!

Somehow a friend of mine ended up walking through the parking lot with a JCM800 head...... I did see him up on the stage during the riot.....

                Wild times indeed!!

                A~

Two of the coolest things to happen to me have happened after a show. The pictures say it all! Hanging out in the back of Lynch's tour bus will never be topped though!

Metallica on the "Justice..." tour, at Birmingham NEC.
Deadly dull show, but during Kirk's solo bit, (The meedly-meedly intro to "Am I Evil") somebody throws a plastic bottle at him. Fortunately, this hits the fingerboard of the guitar, resulting in a joyous "BOING"!

Saw Scorpions and Rainbow and during one of Blackmore's solos a guy throws a beer bottle at him.Blackmore catches it and plays slide with it not missing a beat. Then he empties it and throws it back out to the audience. Happened over 20 years ago and still never forgot it.
