I found a Jackson Firebird in a local shop for $500 but decided to come to this site to ask for details since the store was only open for one more hour. Ends up that it was a San Dimas custom so the next day I was at the store as soon as they opened. They sold it as soon as I left the store the day before!
No honey, I have always had this Jackson....

Ah yes, to be young and retarded.....

I had an Ibanez 540PII(the unofficial Alex Skolnick model) that I got really cheap. I ended up trading it in for next to nothing. They go for big bucks now on ebay.

I had a Gibson SG that I really loved and got pretty cheap. I'm not sure what model it was but it had only one pickup and one volume/tone control and was rear routed(no pickgaurd). I sold it dirt cheap because I was fiending for my first really nice motorcycle and couldn't wait. I would kill to have that guitar back and I kick myself on a daily basis for that one.

This may not qualify as a "dumb" thing, more an accidental thing... I was living in a crappy hellhole of an apartment in Tempe AZ when I was 19 and I was plugged in to my old yellow DigiTech distortion box and amp... With guitar still on, I walked to the fridge to grab another frothy-cold beverage, pulled the door open, shocking myself when I touched the metal (lol!). Then, as I was trying to get something out, my guitar strings touched the door of the fridge and BZZZT!! Goodbye DigiTech stomp box!!!

In the same room, but on a different day, someone called while I was practicing. I had been cradling the phone in my ear and pulled the cord too tight. The old receiver shot out and ended up hitting my Ibanez Pro-Line Rhoads, taking out a chunk of paint! Later on, the strap slipped off the funky strap button (a v-shaped thingy) and my guitar fell to the ground, cracking the paint near the neck/body joint, but thankfully not breaking the damn thing.

I think that apartment was hexed because I know I wasn't that buzzed when all that stuff happened!

... okay, maybe these do qualify as dumb.... lol! I was only living up to my hair color!

I forgot I left an ADA MP-1 and a Shure wireless unit (wasn't using them) in the garage of this house I moved out of. I didn't realize it till 6 months later, when I sat up in the middle of the night and exclaimed "my MP-1"!
