Help me find a place to live

Ace - I hear ya man ! The ONLY thing(s) keeping me in CT right now are my nephews (1yr and 5yr), and family - parents are still doing pretty good for their age.
The pace here is ridicluous, not to mention the cost of living and the taxes, and I am tired of the corporate BS (but once you get on that corporate $$ teat, it is hard to pull away). I thought RI was one of my options... day-um. Maybe Upstate NY, VT or NH.... other options would be Ohio, PA, NC, and areas around Springdale AK or out in TN

Well I am pretty sure it would be a break here from the cities in MA and CT...But I am not sure for how much longer it is getting pretty crowded here....we are just little you know and you are spot on about taxes here(in the top three highest gas taxes in the country) among other things....ok do not get me started .I have to find the article I read a few months ago where they are trying to impose a "view tax" in scenic NH.....WTF...How do you decide who has a taxable view.Just get me out of here already .

Kentucky is great

North Carolina is very nice I like the Ashville area if you are into the ski thing try Boone NC very laid back.I live in central KY and have since 1962 but have lived in Minn,Mich,and Ohio but Ky has every thing I need.

After living in California all of my life (1966), we moved to KY in 1997. Love the price of homes, lack of traffic, and lack of PEOPLE. Also, the weather is very nice -right in the middle. Winters are in the 30s, summers in the 80s. Not too hot, not too cold.

I had a business trip in LA in mid-May, and after 7 days I was sick of it (they asked me to stay longer but I said no-way).

In September I moved North of the Ohio river, but I still like the rolling hills of KY better.

I really fell in love with NC when I was stationed there and not overseas. I always thought I would move back there later in life. Now I have a state job and it looks like it will be a long time before I can get back there again.

Hmm ..well this is semi true but it is also being fought .. if you don't mind cooler weather NH is a very good choice... it will also be in accordance with WHERE you live.. I don't pay a view tax

no seatbelt law
no helmet law
no strict gun law
property cost hundreds of thousands less than Ma


You get the idea... plus you get
change of seasons (IE Fall is awesome here)
near the coast, Boston, White Mountains etc..

you are central to anywhere you want to be ..

I really like the fall colors (even in Cinci) after coming here from CA. I REALLY need to take a trip up to NH in the fall to check that place out.

Approx 240 will get you approx 1900-2300 sq foot home..that isn't a fixer upper.

That is kicken... Unfortunately, where I live, a 1000 sq foot condo with a postage stamp lawn goes for about 550,000.00.

Kev there are an awful lot of cool things you mention about NH.But I do not know if I could deal with anymore snow then we get here.The no tax thing is wayyyy cool though .
