I would like to live somewhere on the quiet side and a little too cold is better then too hot.It does not have to be in the U.S....I have got to freakin get out of here before I lose it.Thanks in advance...oh and by the way I do not want to give the impression that everyone here sucks....but the number is growing
I agree with you completely. Everyone I know that moved here from somewhere else always says the same thing..."everyone here is rude and drives like an asshole"...lol. I've lived here my whole life and I never realized exactly how bad it was until I spent a few weeks in Australia. I can't wait to go back. If all goes well I'll be living there in a year or so. I really like the lesser populated areas of NH too but I can't stand the winters anymore.

I hear ya Nate, I just left NoCal a few months ago and that was one of the reasons. I'm hanging around in the midwest at the moment. Out here $550k will get you 300 acres with a lake/quarry big enough to jet ski on and a shiny new 2500+ sf. home. Most NoCal folks who own anything larger than a shack in the city could sell out, move out here, and live a nice life forever while never working again.

Believe me, if it wasn't for my nephews, I would have been out of here a long time ago. I would kill to be able to change jobs and still make the coin that I am making right now. It would allow me to just leave this hell hole of a fucken condo went from 350K to 550K because of all the Ebay idiots inflating the prices around here.

You good people in the North East united states think you have it bad. I think the people over here have competitions on how much of a asshole that they can be.

Money should not be used to judge a man's self worth..

I know of a lot of rich low lifes..just thinkin'.

Kev, that sounds unbelievable..how does the city support itself..

Hell, Cleveland actually has enough revenue to thrive, I pay taxes up the wazoo due to school levies and ect..but elected, crooked primates are handling all the money for far too long..that is truth!

my mortgage went up 300 bucks in 10 years on the same fixed loan due to all the tax increases..

I pay more house taxes than most awesome suburbs..I'm sure this is common in alot of urban cities that mandate residency for it's employees.

I even wrote a complaint to the board of revision..they actually took off a few bucks a year ago, which surprised the crap out of me..but socked it to me again this year..yeesh.

I really liked southeast Michigan, unfortunately the economy there is pretty much dead. The midwest in general is really nice, I wouldn't mind living somewhere like Minneapolis or southern Wisconsin. I have to be in a decently sized town though, the middle of nowhere is great for a vacation but I wouldn't want to live there.

Whatever you do, don't move to Baltimore.

Spent six years there. On her first visit, my sister said,
"Boy, there are a lot of ugly people in your town."

On her second visit, she said,
"You know what? It's not that the people here are ugly, they all look angry."

                  My response to her was,
"Which person is more likely to get jacked on the street? Someone who's smiling like he hasn't got a care in the world? or an angry looking mofo?"

Baltimore native John Waters made a film titled "Desperate Living". That about sums it up.

                  Hope this helps,

You stayed way too long. 1966 - 1997 here (but I didn't sell my POS condo until March 2005 to cash in on the suckers moving into the state).

That is a beautiful home, Don. Jesus, something like that with all that property around here would set me back probably 6 or 700,000.

9 words: Location. Location. Location. Overpriced. Overpriced. Overpriced. Watchout. Watchout. Watchout. I watched a booming market in Marin County in the early 80's to the mid 80's, and I owned a house. Then the market went from stagnant to down for 10 years. This is in one of the most desirable and expensive places to live in the US. Then I went through another upswing and got the fuck out. If you don't "Have" to buy a house, I would say be patient and the prices will come to you. I won't even tell the outer LA story I know.

Here's what really pisses me of about owning a shitbox in Marin. If I could have begged, borrowed or stolen $20,000 to improve the house I could have made $100,000 more for the cracker box. I tried, but the boys in the hood just didn't get it. Most of them paid, on average, 40K and had been there for umptine years. I would have doubled their money in 2 months. Oh, well. What's $60,000 now adays.
