I usually play the solo from the Steely Dan song "Kid Charlemagne" by Larry Carlton, to test out the playability of a guitar when I'm at a shop...

I was at a guitar shop once and asked to try out a guitar. The shop employee said,
"Sure, let me tune it up for you", and proceeded to play for about 10 minutes. When he finally handed the guitar over to me, I played what he had been playing, only about 30 times better, out of spite...
