I've never glued a fretboard to a neck, but I've been told that the clamping process will pop out inlays put in prior to clamping. I've heard the best way is to apply the FB to the neck, then install the inlays, then slot the frets, then sand & radius the board.
This board will need to be re-slotted over the inlays if used on a guitar. I dunno...It may work.
That work is a thing of beauty Doug! I wonder, if you put another piece of wood topside when you clamped the fretboard on the neck, if that'd stabilize it and keep the inlays in place? Surely worth a try at least! Keep up the awesome work!
I know a little bit about fretboards and necks now, lol, and it is entirely possible to put inlays on a board and then put that board on a neck. Not sure about your processes and whatnot, but it can be done. You could always try it.
It looks too good not to use, you did a GREAT job.
