  • Anyone ever thought about emigrating?

    Hi all,

Just wondering is anyone of you ever emigrated or thought about it. Please share your stories

I'm thinking about it, first I want to get my master degree anyway..
I don't like living here anymore. The governement sucks, the people don't communicate.. everything is getting more violent.. I just keep thinking there are much better places to live.
Yesterday I got google earth and I'm exploring the world for nice places I know seeing it on a computer screen isn't like the real thing at all, but it's something.

#1 on the list is Sydney, Australia.. it has everything.
#2 on the list is London, England. I really enjoyed my stay there.

Anyone have any stories or advice? thanks.

I would love to move to Canada, but I don't want to move away from my son. I'm divorced and she has primary custody.

Personally I hate London, but that might me taking it for granted!

My wife and I love Vancouver BC and have tried on several occasions to move there, but for various lack of job type reasons, it never happened.

My wife now has been offered a secondment to the Vancouver office for two years, so it looks like it's finally happening! It's an initial 2 year engagement, with the option to extend, and guaranteed return to her current job, in her current office, on her current salary - should be cool! On top of that, I've got early redundancy from my job, so I'll be leaving with a year and a quarter's take home pay in my pocket - yay!!

Given the financial disaster our government here in the US is headed for I believe it's just prudent for all of us to have exit strategies.

I've never really wanted to live any other country. But I did love my visit to British Columbia. If I had to leave Australia, I could definitely stand living there.
            Hail yesterday

Believe me, if you think it's bad where you are, you really don't want to live in London!

I'm guessing no matter where you live, you're not gonna like it. Mostly because you've lived there for a while and see how everything is and start to get sick of it.
If you're flammable and have legs, you are never blocking a fire exit. Unless you are a table.

I want to look at a lot of places after I finish school. I'd like to actually see some of the rest of the world before I decide where to live

I've lived in England, Los Angeles, and several places here in Canada. I like it here. Our government is fucked, but that's pretty much the same wherever you go. I've heard lots of nice things about Norway. They have a very high quality of life. I've also thought about Australia.

I understand you completely. Holland and Belgium are pretty much the same in that aspect!

And coïncidentally, Australia is first on my list too. Awesome weather, great laid back attitude. If I could find a decent job there, I wouldn't hesitate for a minute! Second on the list would be Spain or New Zealand.

Only downside is gear is pretty expensive there, but you have to take the good with the bad I guess.
You took too much, man. Too much. Too much.

I've lived in London and in İzmir and Ankara in Turkey. Emigrating is hard, I mean really hard, especially if you don't speak the language! I'm planning on moving back to England some day, or maybe Spain.

I feel festive all year round. Deal with it.

While it's not really "emigrating", I've often thought about spending my winters in Las Vegas after I retire. I don't gamble or play cards, I just love the city. Must be the buffets.

I like it where I am. It's good country with a good "quality of life" as zeegler put it.

I'd like to move to Cydonia, but the lack of a Wendy's or an Olive Garden kind of puts the kibosh on that idea. I am sure they already have a Starbucks there, but I dont drink coffee, so whats the point...............
