My (most likely to be soon ex) wife just told me the other day, "maybe if you ignored me it would make me want you more"... I rest my case..and side with the others here that think that women love assholes/jerks.

A psychologist I dated for a couple of years had a theory about this sort of thing. She contended that some women seemed to prefer assholes because said assholes would, on occasion, treat the women well which in the minds of those women differentiated them from all others whom the assholes treated poorly all of the time. That in turn provided a hook to keep women in those sorts of relationships because they were occasionally treated well and those occasions, even when rare, were seen by the women as proof of self-worth (or, if you prefer, their own ability to get something from the man that he gave to no one but them which made them feel special). On the other hand guys who treat everyone around them with respect 24/7 aren't interesting to those women because they never feel that they're being treated demonstrably better than anyone else. Ang certainly wasn't stating a theory of general applicability, but was merely trying to explain a dynamic that really does seem to exist in some subset of women. Whether or not those are the sort of women who could ever have healthy long-term relationships is another matter entirely.
