Just watching this on CNBC. It's worth jillions. The guy paid 5 mil for Graham's 2 or 3 semi- trailers full of stuff. He has already sold posters for 60 Grand a pop. Then they found all kinds of recordings from like 196- on.. Stay tuned. It's a bonanza to get all that old music. For you young pups. Bill Graham was "THE" rock promoter starting in the 60's until 198- in the SF Bay Area. And worldwide. . He launched so many local bands, Jefferson Airplane and the like. He brought Zep and all the rest over here. I was there and I will buy it all up.But, I'll pass on the 60K poster.:ROTF: :ROTF:

I thought the name sounded familiar. Just dug out a reproduction Zeppelin concert poster and surely enough it said "BILL GRAHAM PRESENTS..." at the top. Is the Winterland a venue in the SF Bay area?

I was there in the late 70's great memories of the "Day on the Green" rock concerts, remember Ted Nugent on top of his Marshalls blasting, also Pat Travers, Mahogany Rush don't remember too much though - too much Colombian Gold!!! Would like to see a documentary on the stuff before it's all sold off.

I'm guessing "Day on the Green" is some sort of pun...

77-81. Didn't it turn from "Day on the Green" to "Monsters of Rock"?

Day on the Green turned into Monsters of Rock in 1988 at the Van Halen, Scorpions, Metallica, Dokken, Kingdom Come show at Candlestick.

My brother saw Loverboy, Foreigner, Scorpions, and Iron Maiden at Day on the Green for the Beast on the Road tour and got a Maiden baseball jersey with camo sleeves.

I used to collect all the Bill Graham flyers that used to be at Tower Records. I remember in the span of a month there were some great shows at the clubs. Mercyful Fate, Motorhead, and Exciter. All at one show. Did anyone see the Metallica, Metal Church, Anthrax, and I think Megadeth show on New Years around 1985 or so? I saw Y&T, Armored Saint, and Laaz Rockit that new years.

King Diamond was supposed to play at a fencing club in San Jose but then it got cancelled. So did the Venom/Slayer/Exodus show at the San Jose Civic. I saw Maiden and WASP there on the Powerslave tour. Unreal!
