There are 3.8 million people in Lebanon, give or take. Let's go with 1% of the population that are the bad guys. That's 38,000. It's a bigger number than that, for sure. So for every 100 people in Lebanon 1 is a bad guy. Does that one bad guy stand up alone and take on Israel? No. He or she intermingles with the general population. And the General Population is used, with concent?, to hide the bad guys and their weapons. How in the world can you rid out the 1%, and that's a dumb low number? You can't without all the destruction that is going on. Israel is right, based on that assumption. But the price that will be paid and the hellstorm that has been created will do nothing but reinforce the resolve on both sides. I'm just an old guy that has seen the Middle-East situation on TV for almost 40 years. This is real bad.

Okay, threadjack, but here's why I posted what I did to Tom (Charvelguy).

You all know abpout my medical problems. Well, Tom bid and won a guitar I had on ebay, which he knew I was selling to buy meds. This was before I got into the subsidized system I'm in now, and long before Katrina.

So he won the guitar but didn't have all the money. He sent $200 down and asked for a week to pay the rest. I said okay, but reminded him I needed this $ for meds. He said he'd get it to me on time.

The deadline came and went, and he had another excuse and wanted more time. But meanwhile, he'd bought yet another guitar on Ebay! He stalled me to buy that guitar! Well, the second bidder on my auction had been emailing me, so I decided to go ahead and sell it to him since Tom wouldn't pay. I agreecd, he Paypaled me the full amount, and I refunded Tom's $200.

Tom calls me the next morning, gives me a big ration of shit when he was the one in arrears, and threatens me with action through Ebay and Paypal!
I asked him about the other guitar he'd bought, well he didn't want to talk about that! Then he says, "well if I thought you REALLY needed it I could have got it to you sooner" ! He knew I needed the money for meds!

So that's why his "let's stop the heart meds" comment pisses me off! He DID stop my heart meds once by deadbeating me!

Sorry if this gets the thread pulled, guys, but that was a cheap shot Tom!

It has everything to do with making a point about the value of life and how we sit here in the grand ole USA playing armchair judge and executioner. Its to put into perspective.. (quite badly obviously) the circumstance and even the value (gasp) of someone on the other side of the fence,.. yep maybe even a despised Pal.. who seem to have aquired a blanket bad rap and sentence of death. Sorry if it struck a little to close to home..maybe a lifetime supply of rice, leaves and beans would be more fitting?

I'm actually quite pro Israeli and that is quite likely because of my heritage that was so against it, (which.. I've had to deal with that on its own.. I may be a generation removed but I still relate to it and the effect it had upon millions)
so.. again.. I do not have the unfortunate circumstance of a health problem, I have been empathetic too such.. but I also do not try to be an armchair General/God deciding who should be whacked, who should be annilhated and who should be fitting to prosper.

The strong shall live, the weaker parasites should die.. hmm, this sounds very reminiscient of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi hacking the heads off the weaker innocent that 'deserve' it.

The Palestinians and other Muslims are getting in Israel's face on a daily basis, asking for retaliation. It's not like Israel's just attacking for fun or health. Given that "Palestinians" are really Jordanians and they already have a country, and are fighting for a false Palestine, they are bringing this upon themselves.

The Native Americans fought hard, but they finally figured out that if they didn't surrender, they would all be exterminated. Hezbollah and the Palestinians need to understand this. Whether anybody likes it or not, that is the way of the world. For you to insinuate that I like it that way just because I recopgnize reality, that's also uncool. I was, and am, simply describing reality as it exists in the hearts of our fellow humans. Or am I wrong? I'd love to be wrong about this, but I don't think I am.

Or they are supplied nukes? So then, you'd have to also bend the knee of Syria, Iran..etc as they are the larger demons in the region in wait. In fact .. there are those who view this 'war' as the contrived Iranian distraction from the nuke issue. I wish it could be different for all. Displace them all (Pals) in Syria, they have plenty of land. It is the same as Arabs wanting Jews displaced here.. we have plenty of land for them..after all our infrastructure is 'controlled' by them according to Arabs in the region.

Yep.. and given human nature this 1.2 mile buffer zone Israel proposes won't work either. Given they seemed to have destroyed a UN outpost before the objective was completed. You can imagine what result would likely occur during a peacekeeping mission by a multinational force of hundreds of military per nation if something went haywire in a similar incedent of 'protection'. I wouldn't be surprised if Iran or Syria expertly disguised tanks and planes to look Israeli in the future for a repeat event.

Forgive my cheap shot Rich..call me ridiculous and foolishishly laughable for having a difference of opinion. Use of force and the optimistic hope for peace only lasts for so long. Should Israel stand by and take it without action? no. I support their taking the offense for their defense.. unfortuntately, the region and the world opinion often does not.

I just heard the Syrian ambassador to US say yesterday on MPR that the Hezbullah will defeat the Israeli offense. See.. even if Israel pounds the piss out of them, when they retreat after all is rubble...the idiots jump out of their gopher holes with victory signs, firing their guns into the sky and call it a victory. Then reorganize in the protected wings of Syria/Iran while the poor cheer the martyred heros of the cause..making them even more popular in death for standing up to superior technology/forces and at the same time calling the Israeli's cowards for ending the fight.


Israel nuking Damascas while the US takes out Iran? hmm.. I don't believe the rest of the Arab world sitting idle on the sidelines...even if they are 'weaker'.

we may defuse the current situation, but 20 years from now (when our kids have families), high school students all over the world will be able to construct a wmd (either biological/atomic) from their chemistry sets. and there will be no freakin place to hide.

the *ultimate* threat is NOT the palestinians or arabs. the ultimate threat is the hatred that festers among the disenfranchised that ultimately creates extremists who don't give a fuck about killing himself along with a million innocent people.

it's basically a race against time. can we effectively solve these political issues before advances in technology make it impossible to completely contain wmd proliferation?

think about your kids and the families they raise. what kind of world are we going to bequeath to them? sure, one "solution" would be to annihilate whole civilizations. but what does that say about us? how long does such a solution last until we have to use it again? etc.

Israel doesnt want a ground fight as their troops hardware advantage means nothing when bogged down in rubble-dropping bombs and shelling is the way to go.The IDF troops cant cut it on the floor,its not their fault there just not as good as western troops are!I think Israel is just going to use up every bomb that America keeps gives them and keep troop casualties down to keep morale upThere is a BIG story invloving amercian SF's recently taking over any(if there are nukes in Israel and if this story is true)sites that have nuke warheads!Might be BS story,and i expect it is but good on America if it is

I will say this, Justin, you certainly add some entertainment value to this post. IDF troops aren't as good as Western troops? Really? I guess MI-6 is also superior to the Mossad?
