Why would they NOT need the third guitar? Yeah, sorta not needed I guess, as my band has "sorta" pulled off Maidenwith just me playing alone... BUT.... It didn't sound right at all.. Two is better, and well three is perfect coverage.
They are very often doing two guitar harmonies with rythm guitar under them... Hence, three guitars.
If you want it like the original release, it does the job well.
