  • mandoline help...

Found my great grandfather's mandolin and I don't know anything about them. Looked on Google and the only things that came up were auctions or other stuff that didn't pertain. Bridge says "BELL BRAND PATENTED N.M.S. Co". Anybody know about old mandolins or know of any useful websites?

If you're flammable and have legs, you are never blocking a fire exit. Unless you are a table.

      My friend has one.
I tryed playing it with like the D, G, C, chords. It didn't sound right.
He then pointed out the chords are played upside down.
Sorry can't help ya on the web sites.

I've been meaning to learn that and the Lemon Song bass line for about 5 years now...

I played an old round back Washburn that I found in grandma's garage for years, the old fingers just can't handle that small fret board any more, tuning is from treble to bass EADG, string pairs tuned to same pitch, fifth fret= next string open on all strings, as far as figuring value same as guitars, check ebay, bluegrass sites would be a good place to start as far web sites
