There are a lot of Jewish people involved in film making, owning, making, acting, yadda yadda... It hurts his career because he basically (and obviously) is harboring these negative thoughts about Jewish people in general. Would you want to work with someone that was spouting off negative comments about your religion / race / whatever?

Good point. Almost everyone has issues, the dude fucked up, just about everyone does at some point. People who think athletes and actors should be role models oughtta spend more time raising their own kids and stop blaming everything on society. He had the balls to apologize and didn't make any excuses for his actions. People pay way too much attention to celebrities, they're just f-d up people like anyone else. The celebs I cant stand are the ones who never lived a day in the real world and wanna tell everyone else how to live, and most people don't seem to care about that as long as their ideas fit neatly into the mainstream Hollywood line of thinking. Mel's alright, hope he can get his shit together, Shit like he did is the kinda shit that keeps me from drinkin. BTW the guys great at what he does.

It just hit me, 1 out of 3 cops have recorders and or cameras..this is Mel Gibson..I KNOW cops..they recorded this shit for sure!!!..

He and his lawyers already were advised ..or saw or heard the tape..That's why he had to fess up immediately..

It's on tape..The Police isn't going to release it, because his case is still pending...

It may surface later..I bet it will..

I don't watch TV...I'm getting all the info right here on this thread..

That'd be a lot more true before The Passion of The Christ made Mel a near-billionaire. I think he can bankrollo his own films at this point, and the reduced boz office potential of his name might drop 20% over this. That makes him still a very bankable actor.

What I have noticed on other boards, at the risk of generalizing, is that Jewish people don't buy the apology and are very angry. Non-Jewish people think the guy fucked up but apologized and will forgive if he does the rehab and stays out of trouble. You'd think he blew up a synagogue the way some are talking about him.

There has been a similar beat up over here lately regarding professional footballers. A few of them have been booked for fighting in nightclubs, drink driving, beating their spouses or whatever. Most top athletes are good, upstanding members of a society, but a few have social issues, gambling/drinking problems, etc. Sounds kind of like a microcosm of society, doesn't it? But because these people are supposed to be role models, they aren't allowed to fall prey to the foibles of the rest of society? None of these acts should be applauded, but the press would have you believe that all footballers are cads based on the actions of a few.

So I guess this generation of under-8 footballers have stopped emulating the feats of their favourite players on the field, and instead are thinking that it's okay for them to get rolling drunk at the footy club before they drive home from the game on a Saturday afternoon, because some of their heroes might? I'm wondering where these 8 year olds are getting alcohol and access to the car keys in the first place.....

Maybe we need to take some responsibility and actual parent our kids, instead of sanitising everything in this world and leaving them to their own devices in front of the television, hoping that they'll grow up to emulate the behaviour of these "role models"
