Rich, dashcam..OK Police officers and all law enforcement are prohibitted by departmental rule not to reveal any details of a case that are still under investigation and or pending..

especially a high profile case such as this..

That is EXACTLY why he had to come clean and make a public apology to cover his own ass..CYA!!

He will go to court plead guilty..pay the maximum fines ...prolly in the ballpark of $5000-10,000 and possibly go into a rehab as part of his sentence...pocket change and nothing really for Mel..

This may sound wrong..but is there really freedom of speech in this uber sensitive, PC country in the middle of war..I say no..

Can any of us walk downtown and shout "I want the president dead" or something that may offend or target a group of people without police interaction or public confrontation..I say no!

Yo, Bill, poor analogy there. You can easily yell about impeaching him, or yell out insults (easy target though), but there's a very specific law about making deadly threats against the Prez. Actually aren't there laws about threatening ANYBODY? Like, terroristic threats?

Wishing him death is not..technically no crime there, if people start to gather in a unruly unrest..then that could be "inciting a riot"!!

I don't know the exact wording of the laws, but will LEOs be that detailed when making an arrest? They gonna lock you up and let the DA (or whatever agency) worry about the specifics later. Maybe, if they are Bush supporters, they'll take ya to the Sally Port and tune ya up, too, eh?

Actually, a rational, reasonable person could articulate his way out of such drama with the law..they would prolly tell you to leave..and if they didn't comply then they would prolly be arrested on a simple disorderly conduct..just to remove them from the scene.

with that said..and being a cop..is that truly freedom of speech..

I had to go to the abortion clinic in my area every other day for the protests..most were peaceful people taking their stance..

what disturbed me was the graphic GIANT sized posters they would display to all the traffic and passerbys..showing a mutalated fetus in full vivd color..

they had to remain on the sidewalk and couldn't step onto the facility property..that was the only rule..basically

There was always someone that had to be a real pain..passively resisting..by sitting on the ground and not following our commands to leave the property, or at least get back on the sidewalk..so we had to remove them..pissing off the other protesters who were complying..and anyome passing by..

Well anywhoo..this Mel Gibson incident is nothing more than Bush calling some media person a asshole in front of a live mic..or if the pope himself would slip up and say something a bit off color or questionable..there has been a lot of oops lately...including Barbera Walters and black guests on her show lately...she's just from a different genration and out of touch..I heard alot of buzz about her lately.. she won't last too long now..I think she'll leave soon..my guess.

Apparently ABC's been waitnig 2 years for a script and got none, so it sounds like he'd done nothing on that project anyway.
