Hey, parts of This Is Spinal Tap were filmed there, too!

SOD was bad ass!! How many albums did they make? I wonder what Scott was using for amps-cabs-speakers? That is the exact tone I am always looking for Jack.

          Well,I guess you're 38-42,or somethin' like that.
The reason you got jumped on for this comment is lots of guys on these boards have seen concerts in 87 and maybe are not fond of being called "old" just yet...

I mentioned the guessing his weight because folks at county fairs do that - they guess your weight or age. Anyone remember the Jerk movie w/steve martin? My comment had nothing to do with Ron's weight or size - just that it seemed like a jerky thing to comment on his age. BTW, I saw some shows in '83 (not SOD though) and I'm the advanced age of 36.

JCM800s with TC electronic booster in the front. I think he lost those amps in a fire though.

Cool Pete. I wonder if he was using a 2203 with EL34`s or 6L6`s .Do you know which TC Boost he used? Do you know what speakers were in those cabs? I am seriously going to try to put together something like that!! Thanks-Jack.

Stormtroopers of Death was the shit. Album was started and finished in like 2 days and was one of the most hardcore albums of that time period IHMO.

S.O.D only made one album then became Method of Distruction(I think) they put out a few more albums in the spirit of S.O.D. Some gems in there but nothing like Speak English or Die.

                  I confess that I like S.O.D. and I am 36. Fuck off =)

Actually, they got back together and did "Bigger Than The Devil" in 1999. http://www.sod-mod.com/content/sod_albums.htm

Not sure of the amp, but it was the booster/line driver like Pete said. I picked up one on Ebay a couple years ago just to get that tone. I use it with my 2204 and it works great for that sound!

                              Back to SOD.

SOunds like a pretty sick show Ron. I always thought they were more of a spoof band, but as far as metal goes they were pretty cool.

Nooooo, Scott needed to pay his tax bill!

M.O.D. are a different band, although their first LP "USA for MOD" was in a similar vein to "Speak English or Die". Scott Ian played on at least one track, as I recall. Some hilarious content, some controversial content too (if you are a sensitive type!), but excellent!

Still, I think that "Speak...." had killer guitar sound on it, I remember buying it back then, seeing that Jackson RR that Scott had, and WANTING one! Strange how some of the best guitar tones recorded are on LPs just knocked together without months of pissing about (like Def Leppard - recording one string at a time! WTF??????). Apart from "Speak...." I'm thinking of Metallica's "$5.98 EP" - cracking sound!! Maybe there's something to learn there, ie. don't muck around too much with your guitar tone, just set it up, warm it up and wail away!!!

Anthrax/Scott Ian didn't have much luck with equipment did they? Apart from the kit they lost in the fire, didn't they have a load of Marshall stuff stolen before that, Marshall JMPs and the 4x12s with the camo print grill cloth?

Oh, and I'm 36 too, and I don't smell of piss or Werthers Originals.

Well, at least, I don't think I do.......
So I woke up,rolled over and who was lying next to me? Only Bonnie Langford!

                                I nearly broke her back
