yup. this is what happens when you download via shareware progs (for mp3's. videos etc). i got hit by trojan horses and deleted them because they can't be cleansed. i'm at work as i write this post. my pc at home cannot access several icons because the WININET files (one of which is an ".ini") is missing. i stumbled across a forum in which someone suggested running a new task in task manager to remove such files and then reboot. another option is to re-install windows, which then means having to re-install my modem and all the other programs i use. any one got any more elaborate or easier fixes. do note that i've got next to no free space on the drive and don't want to lose any of my jackson pix... and my porn downloads!

There should be a copy of the wininet.dll in your windows/system32/dllcache directory (it's hidden by default). You could try copying that over the one in your Windows/System32 directory. You may have to boot into safe mode to overwrite the system file.
