19... And can't stand Nirvana. I think Nirvana kinda ruins it for the whole grunge genre - for years Nirvana was pretty much representative of grunge to me (okay, so I didnt listen to that much music, I don't have that much influences now anyway), and they sucked! The fact that Cobain is hailed by so many as a great GUITAR PLAYER may be the one thing that sucks more. Okay maybe he was a rebellious figure to some, but fucksake his playing was mediocre at very best. Nirvana also cast huge shadows on so many bands of that era that DID know how to write good MUSIC, like Soundgarden, STP, Pearl Jam... although I never got into those bands, at least they have something coherent.

And another thing that grinds my gears - how can you celebrate someone gutless enough to take his own life?

I was watching VH-1 and Dee Sinder, not that I love the guy, said.."Metal had to die"..because bands like Poison, Warrant, Pretty Boy Floyd, Firehouse, Slaughter, Enuff Z Nuff just made it "gay"..VERY gay!!..metal is supposed to be the antihesis of Gay..am I wrong????


But metal fantasies quickly turn to metal nightmares when dudes dress like chicks ..lipstick, blue eye shadow, gay-glo leg warmers, spandex, and belly shirts ..singing and prancing happily ..hand in hand about stupid, happy bullshit..that's not "metal"..never was..it's the anti-metal..it's what KILLED metal!!!!!

Pretty much all those spandex bands said they are rock not metal bands.
Even RATT said that they are not a metal band.

Furious metal bands where ugly dudes sang about dead animals was underground like it is today. When grunge came, those bands went even moore deeper into the underground. Durning at the glory hair days, they at least got SOME respect.

There are popular bands from the 80's that still sound good today..I think.. Dokken, Ratt, Rough Cutt, Whitesnake, Skid Row and etc..all kick ass..

Yep, metal was/is ugly..not many chicks there..but I'm not talking 'bout chicks..hell, most still hate metal..I'm talking METAL..that's it.

You know what band pushed me over to the ugly side..Coroner..they did it..the music is so fuggin' cool ..I couldn't deny the music..I used to HATE death metal vocals..it all sounded like cookie monster to me..yes, I been there.

Some bands such as Coroner just stuck..that planted the seed and it just went from there..

John got me into King Diamond, because the guitars and music is so killer..man back in '87 when Z Rock played that shit..I had to roll my windows up without air in the Summer..just so nobody could here that..now I love that fucker..I crank his silly ass..

My wife..thinks ALL clean vocals sound 80's, even all the kick ass bands I love..yeesh..just 6 years ago..I couldn't play Testament or Pantera in the car without her moping..now that stuff is tame to her..not kidding.

Those are like B-Horror movies. They aren't made very well, they are cheesy and whatnot but they have a special place in my heart. I never considered bands like Ratt, poison, Cinderella, Motley Crue, etc. to be metal. I always saw them as glam rock, rock and roll and hard rock, but never metal.
