I like U2.

Say what you want about the Edge, but he has a sound that is unique and instantly recognizeable as HIS. How many of you can make that claim? He took "Run Like Hell" and made a whole textured style from it. No, he didn't invent it..but he certainly embraced it and made it his own. I still think that "The Unforgetable Fire" and "The Joshua Tree" are two of the best rock records released in the 1980s. They are beautiful. Slam me if you want, go ahead...I don't give a fuck.

Oh, and the solo from "New Year's Day" is a sonic masterpiece. Full of emotion, simple and has a KILLER tone.

I liked rap too, when it was relatively new and had rock beats and guitars. Those early LL Cool J and Run DMC records were great. I abhor rap, hip-hop and what they call R&B now..but I am still down with Run.

It isn't all metal, people.

Dave sure broke out after Nirvana died. I hated N so much I did not even buy the first FF cd when it came out. later I realized my mistake, as that is a fuckin classic album.

Yeah, I have heard it. My ex-wife liked them alot. I love Chris Cornell's voice, I think he is an amazing singer. I even bought the first Audioslave record because he gave such a strong vocal performance.

I was never a SG fan until my singer Ty played me Badmotorfinger..it wasn't just listening to the cd. It was when he started SINGING to the cd..he really nails that shit, Cornell is his favorite singer, besides Paul Stanley..seriously.

When I hear him sing along to that cd..I was immediately sold..he really pointed out how gifted Chris Cornell is.

Now, I feel obligated to learn Jesus Christ Pose or Rusty Cage just for him..because he does it so damn good!

yeah I missed the grunge thing, like the rest of us (cept for AIC and they are metal, not grunge), so when I heard Badmotorfinger a few years back for the first time I was like WTF, this is excellent!

Remember... Milli Vanilli or whatever you call them, won a Grammy.
ANYBODY can win a grammy if you have the right promotors and label backing.
Talent has very little to do with it anymore.

One could say the same in parallell with running for public office..if you're implying that the public can be duped by deception and publicity...then IMO.. GWB & DC are the equivalent of Milli Vanilli...w/o the six pack of course.

speaking of talent, I think almost everyone who made it big time has SOME talent.

Talent doesn't mean you are a musical genius or badass virtuoso guitarist.
Acting skills, dancing, performing skills, photogenics, some special kind of attitude or whatever are things you are born with just like musical talent.

"regular" people don't make it, the industry is looking somone who has "IT" you know the special skill or whatever you call it.

Even those lame-ass teen stars like Hilary Duff and Lindsay Lohan has some "talent" and I think we all agree it isn't the musical talent they have.
