Don't matter none to me, pardner!

I was on the Tennis team way back in high school, started getting into it again last spring - I was very rusty...but my friend Clyde taught me a bunch of stuff, and now I'm a surprisingly good player, considering my size (!) (Just weighed myself at the hospital - Yikes!) Yes that earthquake was me :ROTF:

just about the same story for me as well... in high school it was serve and volley all the way... years later, some friends convinced me to learn a baseline game because of my age got bored and took a break from playing... just picked up a racquet a few weeks ago and worked on my serve and volley game again.

So, which has better tone....a maple racket or an oak racket? And, if you use heavier strings tuned to a lower pitch, does it have a darker tone?
