He probably just has a hard drive full of kiddie porn that he doesn't want anyone to see. Anyone who believes all the crap he spewed is gullible as hell.

Actually there are a few systems that do such things. It turns out that in this case the professor was lying about his computer having it, but such things do exist. I read how many sensitive goverment/business laptops, even have software on them that can destroy the hard drives if they are logged into the internet or used by unauthorized people.

VinceV: Of course there are, but after a couple of years at the university I have found out that the average college professor has a hard time even getting the overhead projector to work. Professors tend to know alot about very little.

#1 is total bullshit... lol. Microsoft in 10 minutes was calling him about that? Yeah right. Sorry folks, we deal with Microsoft's most expensive software here and you have to contact them and even then you talk to some outsourced person in a call center far, far away that is reading from a script.

Transponder / wireless thing also screams of BS. That technology is pretty expensive still and isn't used often.

The third one was pretty funny as well... "Only I will know if you have made a copy of it" Hahaha... Yeah, right..

And check this link out... Looks like his scare tactics didn't work. http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=22762

As a mutal fund company we have softwae on our work machines that encrypt the hard drive and will scramble it if you try to put the hard drive in another machine or a network without the proper id/password. The software works, just a littel too good. We have a number of people each week that have their harddrives scrambled for no apparent reason.

What kind of idiot in his position doesn't have a massiving security password on their computer that has sensitive documents?

On the other hand, he didn't have the Gigavector Mark 5000, w/CIA security bandwidth clearance transponder, that asks that you put your right thumb print on an icon after your security passwords are cleared in order to logon.

I got mine with 5 proofs of purchase from General Mills cereals and $5.00 for postage and handling.
