Another Music Chain bites the dust

I noticed the local "Brook Mays" stores were liquidating. Even @ 30% off, most of the stuff was overpriced.

But regardless, that leaves a guitar center and a couple of local shops in Austin.

Any idea why these big shops can't make it either? I understand why mom and pops have it hard. Most of the small shops here have specialties that keep the clients coming.

Maybe that's it, you either shop the good specialty shops, or you go to guitar center/shop online?

Up here in Dallas, I've always found that BM was extremely overpriced. They just aren't able to compete with the negotiability of GC and the great prices at Online shops and of course Ebay.

I scored some cymbals at the BM here - they were dirt cheap.

One of our mom and pops just franchised w/BM not 6 mos ago. Wonder what they will do now...
