I watched all of it live on CNBC. I, literally, could not comprehend what I was seeing. How could you possibly forget? It's been 5 years and , I guess, comes the hype. But, I won't watch it because I saw it live and those are the memories and thoughts that I had then for the people that died and the destruction that hit home. I really don't need to be reminded.I am a true ass set to this board.

I did not realize this was about remembering the fallen and no other thoughts were allowed.the guitar players look damaged - they've been outcasts all their lives

I'll never forget 9/11. I was in a sailboat on the Hudson, just south of the Towers on Sept 5th admiring the Towers and lower Manhattan on that clear day. On Sept 11, I had just landed at LAX, when the report came in about the attacks. Later that week, we had to drive our rental car from LA to Houston.

Yes, we will never forget those we lost. But, please educate yourselves on the evidence that exists. Conspiracy theory? OK, OK. We know this for example, an American Airlines aircraft did not crash into the Pentagon. Absolutely no way. Also, it's highly unlikely that a cell phone would work at altitude on a commercial flight. The WTC towers were the first ever in history to have a structural failure due to fire? There is so much more to consider. Please educate yourselves and make you own conclusions. All is not as you are told.

I , uh, have used my cellphone flying from L.A. to New York, illegally of course, but I had to get a deal I was in the middle of to close, and this was back in '97. It worked fine. But maybe I got lucky, as I was not supposed to have it on then but I was greedy back then. Besides the fire, I'd say the towers had a serious explosion from all the fuel to deal with as well as structurally holding up through an airliner whacking into each tower on top of the fire. But I'm going off of what I saw with my eyes, I have unfortunately decided to stay with the original theory. Not helping the situation since 1965!

I remember watching the second plane hit the tower on a 5 inch black and white tv in our maintenance shop store room.I could feel the blood rush from my face and head, and the immeasurable void in my stomach.
The hardest part of the situation for me was picking up my children, then ages 10,8,and 7,from school, and having the two older ones ask me "Why did the people jump,Daddy?" Yes,they had televisions in every classroom. Here I was,6 weeks into being a single parent. How do you explain to an 8 year old that that was better than burning to death? I could do little more than find the nearest parking lot, pull over and hug my kids.
Now living in New York, there is not a day that I don't see a bumper sticker,t shirt,or ribbon that commemerates the victims of that day, but,in a sense,we are all victims now.
All of God's Grace to those who were in the towers that day.I fail to possess the vocabulary for the sorrow I feel for those they have left behind.
There is no greater hero than he who is stricken reaching for the hand of those fallen before them.Every rescue worker there.Police,Fire,Port Authority, and the everyday "man on the street"....You have more than earned your wings..
We will never forget the day "we" became a nation again.Bon Jovi is like a frozen Coca Cola.. It's cool, it's crunchy, but when all is said and done it is still pop....

Re: conspiracy nonsense. Some people may want to believe those things more than the simple, horrid reality of the evil that was committed that terrible day. But if I were the relative, loved one, friend or whatever of a victim - and had someone come up to me spouting that BS nonsense off - I would have a very tough time holding back my anger from such insults. With all due respect, those conspiracy theories are a freakin' insult to the memories of each and every victim of September 11th. And a slap to the face of the loved ones who survived such losses.
Let's stick to honoring the fallen, please. They deserve so much more respect than that.

I was sitting in front of my pc programming some parts and talking on aim when my friend messaged me and told me a plane hit the 1st tower. I mentioned it to my co-woker and I pulled it up live on the web. He looked at the hole and said it must have been a small plane because it didn't look very big, then the 2nd plane hit ..
We went up into the offices and pulled out a TV and watched the rest unfold. My company never made one announcement that day of anything happening. If you didn't have access to either media in some form or a phone you wouldn't have known ...
This was our generations pearl harbor and our defining "I know exactly where I was moment". It is sad that this country has lost sight of the patriotic bond that 9-11 brought. From that day there has been an American flag on the front of my house and as long as I'm alive there always will be now..
When this event happened everyone only thought of the horror of those people being killed and wanted to be with the people that mattered most. For a short period of time there was a solidarity that I've never experienced before and hope to not have to under the same type circumstance...Don't worry - I'll smack her if it comes to that. May they rest in peace, and may their surviving family and friends find ways to make peace with their loss and their lives today.Ron is the MAN!!!!

I was at work, and my bosses son called him to let him know a plane had hit the first World Trade Center. He and I were standing in his office watching the TV, and saw the second plane come in and hit the second tower.
I was just dumb founded by the whole thing. I know for two weeks straight I was glued to CNN or MSN watching, hoping and hurting for all of those people affected by it.
The one thing I distinctly remember came from it was a memorial service at our local firestation a few days later. There were a couple of hundred people there. It seemed like that one point in time where it didn't matter what our heritage was, we were and still are all Americans.
I know I'll never forget that day. My heart and prayers go out to all those who were affected directly by it.
