    You give props too easily, basically everyone who can shred is the man in your book. It's not enough for me and for some other folks. I need more than just woodshedding skills. There aren't a lot of players who I really like, you have to be very special to get my attention.

    I know you are bored off the old stuff. But everytime I put on Whitesnake '87 on Zeppelin IV it sounds so fresh and new to me. I'm not stuck in the old shit because I just want to, but it happens to be close to my heart and there's nothing I can do about it.

        Hey man I love the old stuff too..I have it..all of it..

        BUT

        I kept on top of it the whole time when metal went underground..for the last 15 years or so..

        I kept supporting great bands and players..when most haven't a clue who they were..

        I still put on Zep, Sab, Dokken, Ratt, and so on..but there IS good new metal and players out there to say there isn't is just plain ignorant!

          And for all the Alexi/COB fans, get all three Sinergy albums... Kim Goss has an awesome voice! Their new one should be coming out some time soon.

                  Joe, really Sinergy is got a new one coming out..I talked to Kim at BW & BK show..she's a tiny one with huge boobies..she hit it off pretty good with my singer..they were practically dry humping..

                      Well, it's been coming out for quite a long time now! LOL It's supposed to be called Sins of the Past, they keep pushing it back again and again. According to this, it's supposed to be out next month, but it'll probably be delayed again.

                        Bill, if you've done kicking my ass here, we can go to Finland, there's 8 million metal bands there (all with shredders) and it's only 60 miles away

                            so, now that that's said and done, i totally understand where you're coming from. i'll say it again, i like my fair share of cookie monster metal. testament's the gathering is one of my alltime fave records, with or without the death vocals. i LOVE cannibal corpse, pat o'brien is totally out of his mind, an insane riff machine with killer tone and aggression to boot.

                            the reason why i even started this thread was that i wanted to know if there are any HEAVY (!!!) bands in the thrash metal genre (along the lines of the haunted for example) who are still doing good and clean vocals, not to bitch about cookie monster vocals.

                            i mean, i absolutely LOVE 80s metal, it's my heart and soul, songs like saxon's rock'n'roll gypsy get me all pumped up and shit, but at the same time i can't live without my daily dose of heavy riffage and speed. i also DO think that 80s guitar players were musically better, even though they might not be as extreme...to me it seems like nowaday's guitar players are one trick pony's who focused on one certain aspect of the playing, whether it's heavy riffage or blazin' speed, in contrast to 80s guys who could tear it up like mad but also delivered the whole package, songwriting, flashy tricks, fretboard wizardry, and even some solid vocals (sykes anyone?!)

                            no need to start a pissfest about that....you need to take a xanax and calm down...or better yet, read E's comment above
