Thats what I thought but I am not finding any charactors when I do.

Way at the bottom of this board I notice it say HTML code is off - could that be the problem??

It still says Smilies are on though.

html code off has nothing to do with it... the "Go Advanced " is below the Quick Reply box. That button next to "Post Quick Reply"

Ok. go to User CP- Edit options- at the very bottom..Misc (something..)
Make sure it's on Enhanced (then there's a bunch of letters..) etc. Try that.
