I like the way that most noobs are thrown under a bus when they come here.

I didn't read everyone of his posts but most were appropriate for the thread.

So what he posted 1K times in 10 minutes, the admins still need to give him access to the classified. If he decides to then abused it kick him. Like the classified are some magical place the everyone is dying to get too.

I'm sorry, resetting his post count was just "child-ish", BUT less "child-ish" than changing his tag to "ball sniffer or whatever so I guess I shouldn't complain.

Dude, if you can't see that as post padding, then you'll have to change your username to Helen Keller.

I think in light of it being so blatant, that resetting his post count to zero wasn't kicking a noob to the curb. Once again, I don't see how in the hell you can fault the mods for doing their job when someone is clearly breaking the rules.

I have long wondered why the word ratio shows up as ration in posts? It makes no sense. The letter n is nowhere near any of the letters for ratio? Microsoft bug? I'm serious.

The post count requirement for classifieds access was instituted for a reason. People were joining just to hit and run the classifieds, and a few REAL members got bad deals. The idea is that a member gets to know us, and makes himself or herself somewhat known to us, before they start buying and selling here. That they're not JUST here to buy or sell gear, but to participate in the community.

If there were no oversight, people would complain. With oversight, some will also complain. But the current requirement is not onerous if you're here to be a real part of the board. If you just want to sell some gear, go to Harmony Central where they don't mind that.

The admins are trying to protect existing longterm members, I see nothing wrong with that. Frat pledges and new employees go through probationary periods, why not forum members? It's not a big deal if you're here for the long haul.

I think the magic number should be 1000. If you can make it to 1000 posts without getting banned, or reset to zero.....then you just may be part of the family.

Yeah that was the nice thing about the last upgrade.. We can have a time/post based system. Right now it is 100 posts/45 days. So far it hasn't worked too bad and it has even hit members who joined 2 yrs ago posted just once and now wanted to dump or buy gear here.

I don't think it is fair for longstanding members to have to compete for gear listings with lurkers. So if a really cool guitar gets posted it is nice to see someone who contributes get the shot and not someone who just comes here to see the classifieds. That's what ebay should be for..

As far as the Classifieds "hit and running"....while It may seem harsh I´m all for upping the counts another 45 days and 400 posts. I honestly don´t think that 45 days and barely 100 posts are enough to properly guage someone.

BUT I don´t make the rules here, so I live with the ones that are in place.

The admins NEED to do absolutely nothing. That´s the nice part about running your own board, you make the rules and decide how they´re enforced. Anyone that doesn´t like it is free to leave at any time.
