I was raised in the Bronx. Attended many, many games. Took the subway there (kind of traditional) . Like anyone else whether your from New York or Kansas City. Your with the team whether they're good or they suck.

I've just been lucky the last 11 seasons. We were horrible in the 80's. But I stuck with them, though I inflicted much more bodily injury on myself then.:ROTF: :ROTF:

If Estonia had a world champion team or a sucko team (be it baseball. soccer or basketball), you'd probably route for them regardless of what they did.

It's hard for me to look at it like that from a Red Sox point of view though.:ROTF: :ROTF:

I know you've got to be esctatic. Detroit hasn't been there for a while. The problem with being a Yankee fan, at least lately, is that we're expected to get there and win, so if we do, then great.

But no one expected Detroit to have the season they had this year. If they do go on to win the World Series, then its like winning the lottery. I felt like that back in '96 when we won after almost 20 years.

Hell, Red Sox fans are probably still esctatic and it been 2-3 years ago that they won it.

I'm not a big Oakland fan, so I'll be routing for the Tigers to pull it out. I know the Mets are from NY and I should be routing for them.....................fukk that!!!!

Its a personal thing..like Tommy. He knows what I'm talking about when it comes to the Mets. If you're from NY, you're either a Yankee fan or a Met fan, not both, and each other despises each other.

Don, I know I know why you are Yankees fan, I was just being sarcastic
It's ok really, I don't hate 'em as much as Sox fans
I guess it is pretty usual in US to support the team wich is from the city where you grew up or near by.

New York is bigger than Estonia, so my hometown teams aren't always my favourites

But It's good to choose your fav. teams if you are from another place, you can be more objective or shit like that. I don't like Yanks because I'm never a fan of All-Star teams. I'm a Tigers fan, But I hated Red Wings in NHL (too many All-Stars, specially in 01'-02') dug Avalanch though. Loved Jazz always hated the Lakers. etc. Somehow I love teams wich are full of young players and they have a good chemistry even if the team doesn't win the big games.

yup Endrik...the Red Wings are NY Yankees of the NHL.

When you have an owner who throws cash to put a winner out there yor expectations are always high. Fans in other cities dont understand that and think the Wings fans (and Yankee fans) whine when they dont win it all...

Shawn, I will never forget the finals in 2002, was there any bad or even avarage player in Wings? I only remember the biggest stars. Bowman did a good job I think. Anyway I was very sad when Hurricanes lost. I even wore a Finnish practice jersey signed by Kappanen (played in Carolina then). That last game was LONG, but also one of the most interesting games ever.

Hell, Red Sox fans are probably still ecstatic and it been 2-3 years ago that they won it.
The management thought the same thing, they assumed that they would ride the world series win for several years now and cash in. They were a bit surprised when the RedSox fans expected more. This was the first year that by the end of the season people weren't filling the stands in a long time.

We don't hate the Yankees in a literal way ..ok maybe just a little. RedSox fans got sick of losing every year and having the Yanks fans rub it in our faces. Their fans were never gracious winners they always had a habit of rubbing salt in the wound...

Then there are the ways the RedSox got their losses that really hit hard.. Bill Buckner, Bucky Dent etc etc etc

On the other end of the spectrum it is a heathly rivalry between the teams. It really is a big deal when the Yanks come to town Boston is almost on fire with baseball .. it pumps a lot of money into the state ...

Doesn't Nuno wear a Red Sox jersey everytime he gives an interwiev in NYC?

Never.......how could you say that. :ROTF: :ROTF: :ROTF:

I think it seems more obvious cause we've won more in the last 10 years or so, so we've had more times to gloat.

In reality though, if the shoe was on the other foot, it would be the same outcome. We'd be steaming in our own brew at the gloating done by Sox fans. Hell, we took a lot of shit '04. :ROTF: :ROTF:

guys, you are cool, just bustin' balls and whatnot,

I'm glad you aren't like soccer fans who kill each other, put themselves on fire and assasinate the players who fucked up the game.
