The music/song gets to be alittle more versatile (do more) in many aspects of writing with two players. Either way one or two, I'm good.
If one, look at it like this, its one less ego to deal with.Peace, Love and Happieness and all that stuff...
"Anyone who tries to fling crap my way better have a really good crap flinger."
I personally do not care how it was built as long as it is a good playing/sounding instrument.

In my own band..ONE..me, would be cool to have somone on the same page with you for support tho, but that's difficult !!
as a fan..either, as long as it rules!!!"Bill, Smoke a Bowl and Crank Van Halen I, Life is better when I do that"
Donnie Swanstrom 01/25/06..miss ya!
"Well, your friend would have Bell's Palsy, which is a facial paralysis, not "Balls Pelsy" like we're joking about here." Toejam's attempt at sensitivity.

I'm a big fan of power trios, but for really heavy bands, I think 2 guitars is better live, the exception that comes to mind is Pantera esp. for songs like Floods were I think it adds to the song when it's just the bass and drums backing during the solo break.
Overkill is a good example of a band where 2 g's are better with one. When Bobby G. was their lone guitarist, the song really lost a lot of muscle during a solo, but once they picked up 2, their show was kickin!"Your work is ingenius…it’s quality work….and there are simply too many notes…that’s all, just cut a few, and it’ll be perfect."

our singer plays guitar and keys (both very well), so I get the best of both worlds. sometimes two guitars and we share leads, sometimes just me on guitar with him on keys. it's great.the guitar players look damaged - they've been outcasts all their lives

I always liked 2 guitars is a band. Hell, sometimes 3 is cool, like the Outlaws and Molly Hatchet. To me, a lot of times the mix sounds a bit empty without the rhythm guitar behind the lead.Scott

I prefer being in a band with two guitars.
The layering of guitars with a solid bass player sounds awesome.
Plus you don't have one person writing all the guitar parts. More diversity in writing.
It all depends on the sound your wanting to achieve.
When Hagar joined VH, they became a two guitar band... and I think some of the Van Hagar songs would sound like ass with only one guitar.-Rick
