Tigers are awake now and congratulations to Kenny Rogers keeping the 23 scoreless inning streak a live this post season...who would have thought with his post season record?

I've always preferred the American League over the National. Most of that is because I'm from Detroit and the Tigers are my club. I tried to get into the Astros when I lived in Houston but just couldnt do it. Pitchers batting makes no sense to me at all unless they work on hitting as much as pitching

        Lets Go Tigers!

please refer back to my first post and i'm spot on once again. And Snoop, the Cardinals have a lot more tradition, and worldseries rings i might add than the braves. the Cards won 83 games and made the series, we got Kenny "It's just quaker state om my hand, I was working on my car earlier today" Rogers pitching like christy Mathewson, and the Tigers will now roll them. I knew the Cards would win game one. It's over now. There's a chance it could go back to Detroit, but only for one game if it does. pitchers and catchers report in

reads pretty clear to me: AL pitchers that wind up going to the NL do better than the other way around. it's not uncommon when you hear a new-to-the AL pitcher's struggles being chalked up as "getting used to the american league." they usually last longer in games at similar pitch counts because the hitting isn't as consistently strong as the hitting in the AL.

did you watch any interleague games? did you see how the NL teams were beaten like foster children? boy, i sure did. to me, the NL is old-timey. while there's nothing wrong with tradition (and the cards certainly have a rich history), the NL teams just do nothing for me. yeah, they've got their stars and all, but there isn't any NL teams that interest me at all.

well said! why is it okay for 8 other guys to be expected to play their position AND hit, but the pitcher is allowed to suck? granted, there's some pitchers that can hit (willis, zambrano, beckett...hell, arroyo hit a few out this year with the reds), but why is it okay? it shouldn't be. if you're going to acknowledge that pitchers can't hit, why not do something about it other than bite your nails and hope that he can bunt and move someone over? that's retarded. the whole bunting thing is goofy, too. if you have runners on and no outs, why the hell not get someone who can hit and score some runs without giving up an out? i know, there's more to it than that, but i'm glad you don't see it much in the AL

I’m betting not considering there were only 2 NL teams to have a winning record in interleague play this year. Cards were 5-10...4 of those 5 were to KC... Hope you guys didn’t strain yourselves too hard there. Detroit was 15-3, 3 of those wins were to the Cards. NL has been a joke all year.

Atomic national league suckness factoids for right now-
1- Mets win 97 games, then lose pitching rotation and end up going down in a respectable 7 games against the 83 win Cards.(I am a Met hater by the way, not crying cuz my team lost) They should have still won, but gagged.
2-Not one other team won 90 games or more. Unacceptable.
3-Try pithing in the American League East for a season and see if you can keep you're E.R.A. under 4.00. If you can you're superman.
4-Same as # 3 for the American League central.
5-i'd rather watch more hits than less hits, unless of course it's my pitcher giving up the less hits-lol
                  6-It just sucks, that's why.
7-Watch Detroit make a mockery of it anyway as they take 2 of three in St.Loooo Loooo, maybe 3 in a row , pitchers batting and all. Look, I'm all for watching a 2-1 ballgame, but it's more impressive when it's a 2-1 game when
it's people like Travis Hafner, Big Papi, Miguel Tejada, Jeter, hammy Manny, Konerko, etc. who are being held to a 2-1 situation. It's more fun to hear the crack of the bat, strikeouts are less democratical-lol
Not helping the situation since 1965!

I swear this is the stupidest argument I've ever heard!

Why the hell shouldn't pitchers be expected to hit? All the other positions have to bat. So pitchers who have never had to hit suddenly do better when they go to the NL? Like I said, that doesn't make any sense at all. To say that one league is better than another because of some stupid rule is absolutely retarded.

How about the intra-league records or the fact the the AL has 5 teams w/90+ wins (3 of them in the AL central) and the NL has 1 this year? Does that matter? Only the Mets had 97 wins in the NL, if it were a combined league who knows, maybe only one NL team would make the post season Maybe they wouldnt make it at all because they have to play the superior American league teams on a regular basis :ROTF:

the DH was added in the American League to fill more seats, plain and simple. More hit or homeruns, more people. the national league used to win the allstar game every year during the 70's and 80's, it's been all american since.
Same with football, the NFC was dominant for a long time, it has now shifted to the AFC again.

Carpenter had the good stuff going on last night...excellent outing abd could have had went the distance. He kept the Tigers bats were cold but the bonehead defensive plays ended up costing them any chance at getting into that game. Good thing for the Tigers is their entire bullpen got some action and knocked off the rust. Zumaya didnt have it Looks like the momentum swings towards the Cards now the Tigers need to respond tonight

Game 4 tonight...50-60% chance of rain around gametime
