It's very long and sad story that the older members know of. The bottom line was I needed to get out of where I was. I had a time limit'. I rode my bicycle about a 1/2 up the road and saw this trailer FSBO. It was an easy out and actually a good place. So here I am.

If similar trailers are selling for $15k, you could make a quick $2k by flipping it for $10k guilt free, I should think. You can buy, what, 15 guitars with that chunk of change?

Even if "as-is" means "about $3000 worth of work necessary to fix the trailer up", your in-laws will still have spent less than they otherwise would have.

If you feel guilty about making $2k off of them, you can spend half the money to buy 100 cases of beer, and invite them over to help you drink them
