  • Help me pick some tunes - modern rock/metal style...

    Hi guys,

Over the past summer, I've started a new band. We finaly have the whole band set.

This is what we've been jamming together:

    Vitamin 'R' ( Chevelle )
    Judith ( Perfect Circle )
    Speak ( Godsmack )
    The Clincher ( Chevelle )
    Aerials ( SOAD )
    Change ( Deftone )
    Slither ( Velvet Revolver )
    Closure ( Chevelle )
Sad But True ( Metallica )
    Remedy ( Seether )
    45 ( Shinedown )
    Blind ( Korn )
    Somebody Someone ( Korn )

These tunes have been picked up a bit randomly as we would go with each band members musical taste. The band is too recent to figure out if we are going to keep them or forget them but at least we are having fun playing those songs.

So back to my question: the funny (or sad part?) of that band is deciding what song we are gonna play. We all know we want to stay in a similar style of the tunes of the actual set list but as I don't listen to such kind of music, I have absolutely no ideas of tunes to bring to my band mates.

So, guys help me out??? Give me some songs ideas!

      Disturbed - Remember
      Sevendust - Live Again
      Jane's Addiction - Just Because

      maybe some Foo Fighters?

It'd be cool if you could pull off some Audioslave.

More Godsmack. Crowds eat that up. We do Speak as well and Keep Away and I am trying to talk the band into doing more.

              Maybe some Filter??
Or maybe something like AEP by Red Harvest, check that band out.
Alice in Chains for sure would fit in...

                        I would add:

                        Shinedown - "Heroes"
                        Tool - "Vicarious"
                        Puddle of Mudd - "Blurry"
Then if you had the effects to pull it off:
                        Audioslave - "Cochise"
And an oldie but a goodie (not exactly modern rock/metal but...) :
                        Guns N Roses - "Nightrain"

I also like the ideas for some Foo Fighters ("DOA" maybe?), the Janes Addiction , "Dead & Bloated" by Stone Temple Pilots, and the others.

BTW: Remedy and Slither are awesome to play aren't they
