  • Attn: Scots - I'm coming to Glasgow

I'm headed to Glasgow and Greenock for a week. I should be there Saturday morning. I plan on seeing all the Clyde stuff, the windmill and the crazy bridge thing - should be hitting Edinburgh as well. Anybody got some insider tips? What's a must see or do?

How wet, cold and miserable is it? Scarf, hat and gloves or can I get by with a raincoat?

There's a US band playing in the area that I dig - Clutch - I may try to see them as well. Any must see clubs/music places?

Just walk up to a group of young lads and say:

"Och aye the noo, it's my first time here in Glasgow, England and I'm looking for the home of that legendary Scotchman Rab C. Nesbitt. D'ya ken, Jimmy?"

I guarantee, it will be a trip you will remember for the rest of your life! (Provided you haven't just addressed a gathering of Albanians/Romanians/Bosnians, in which case, you will be wondering where your wallet went)

    Have fun!!!!
So I woke up,rolled over and who was lying next to me? Only Bonnie Langford!

    I nearly broke her back

Is this something that would get me stomped? I'd like to avoid a stomping!

Something tells me I wouldn't want to refer to Glasgow as being in England... might piss a Scot or two off.

I hope you're having fun, but in Greenock???? Hmmmm, I doubt it!

It was the goruping us with "those" to the south

Man, i agree though, Greenock? What an obscure choice.

Ah well, I AM one of "those to the South", your Lords and Masters*, a sassenach.

                    * Though the amount of Scots in the English Parliament would indicate the reverse!

No word of Grandturk, he's probably tucked up with a bottle of Buckfast under a flyover somewhere, or desperately trying to find an Internet Cafe to send an SOS. :ROTF:
Got to be a family connection with Greenock though, would there be any other reason to go there????? At least he'll have found the road quiet, most people are trying to get out of the place!!

I hope he's having a wild one anyway.

Just got back in the US of A this morning and am currently watching REAL football! LOL!

Seriously - I had a great time in Scotland. I spent time with the wife's family in Glasgow, then headed up to the highlands - Skye, Inverness, Perth - then down to Edinburg - then back out past Greenock for a wedding - then back into Glasgow for Motorhead (FOOKIN' MOTAHED!!!) at the Carling Academy. Had an absolute blast the whole time.

I've got some wicked pictures of the castles and mountains and distilleries. I'll post up a few when I get sorted enough to find my camera.
