  • No Vocal artists

I'm trying to create songs (I think this is the wrong word) with no vocals but I'm having a hard time moving the song. Could you guys suggest some guitarists or dj's like Djshadow that do a good job? No super shredding stuff where the song is pure shred. I want to listen to how they move songs.

I haven't heard Petrucci's solo stuff - does it satisfy the OP's requirement for "no super shredding"?

Michael, I recommend these albums: Neal Schon - I On U, Joe Satriani - Engines Of Creation, all new Jeff BEck albums (Who Else, You Had It Coming, Jeff), John Scofield - Uberjam

                        good guitar meets electronical music

very creative, different and inspirational stuff, specially the Jeff Beck albums, no wanking over lame backing tracks, just genious sounds

its all about a thing called "theme and variation" take one solid riff or lick or progression as the basis of the song and that will be the "theme" then change it into the "variation", use a different key, use a different harmony, or change the rhythm, anything that will make it sound different and still recognizable as the similar to the theme. this is used all the time in classical and symphonic music. good luck with it
