Hey Tommy back in the day I had hair as long as yours!!! Hey wait it is as long!! until I cut 6 inches off and the only pick I ever used was a clayton 1.25mm Super Heavy well unless I was out and used a heavy or what I could find!!

Yea, I used to use the Dunlop Nylon 46 picks but they changed the molecular structure of them and added a substance known as Delrin which messed with my picking technique so I had to switch to pea green Tortex picks. I can't use the lime green ones because the color throws off my circular picking technique.
If I recall there was a thread several pages long discussing specific picks. I bet not many of those fancy frikking specific picks see much action.
        Tools I tell you... tools.

        Here is another one...

I don't know what canned ass sounds like, but I can damn sure tell you what it smells like. Go to your local grocery store and buy some canned salmon. Holy shit that that stuff wreaks!

"Acme brand canned Ass. Now with extra ass!"

          carry on

          How about..

"Vetta's suck because I had a Spyder 1 x 10" that sounded like canned ass. Modeling sucks in general and you can't hear a modeler live".
"So what did I do?.... I got me a Triple Rectifier to replace my Spyder 1 x 10" combo and its sooooo much betterrer and loudererrr. BTW... can a Triple Rectifier do metal??? What pedal should I put in front of it to add more gain because I am a gainaholic??" What cabinets should I get for it because I am currently playing through my parents stereo?
Oh yea... I forgot... Vetta's suck and they aren't loud and they sound like fake crap"

Having a conversation with a tool like the above example makes me want to rip my own eyeballs out.
"Yes,..that's when they used to shove a red hot spike in your peehole until you screamed "yes, yes, godammit ..you fuggin' dicks..I'm a witch..I am witch..you cocksuckers"" horns666

anyone that tells me they aren't part of my playing technique is full of BULLSHIT
I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.

canned ass has a sound of it's own yet it is present in all forms of music. some examples in a variety of genres: Black Magic Woman, Pour Some Sugar on Me, all of St. Anger, etc.

Medium is the key Tim... thats my point. I am sure you would make out ok if you used a different medium pick that was shaped the same as your Fender.

actually, heavy is what i play - they didn't have that pictured. and i actually have other picks that same thickness and shape made of a different material - it's not the same. don't get me wrong, i can get by with other picks but i am far more comfortable with that specific fender pick. you can say i'm full of shit but it's what i've used for 20 years - my fingers know the difference.

yea but these cats were diving deep into all kinds of exotic picks.
It was comical considering half of them can't play.
Its kind of like being book smart and trying to change a flat.
My point is.. just because you know a ton about guitars and amps and you read Guitar Player every month doesn't mean you can actually play.

I dig your heavy picks Tim. You da man. You non-bullshitter you.

+1 on everything except for YOU CAN play the blues on a SL1. I do it at gigs regularly. Yeah I know, BULLSHIT! but I really do.

Actually, I don't really even care if a JCF'r can play or not or is in a band or not or whatever.
Just don't bullshit me into thinking you can, are or were or will ever be.

I have had in depth conversations on car message boards with people who know EVERYTHING about high performance street racing... or at least they are strongly opinionated about it. The conversations usually take a turn for the worst when I find out that they drive a 20" BMX bike but they plan on driving once they turn 16.

How about the posts about changing the speakers in a full stack and the difference between mixing speakers, X patterns, and open and closed cabinets. Like it makes any difference when you live in an apartment on campus and you don't want to wake your roommates up.
That same poster usually follows it up with wanting to sell his Single Rectifier and get a Triple so that he can have more headroom at bedroom levels. Next post is about a hotplate and which one to get.

                            meedley....meedley...meedley... THUNK!!!

I dunno different stuff might work for different people. I play a $99 chinese Dragonfire strat through a Behringer modeller and some computer speakers and my playing feels and sounds about the same as it used to when I had USA Jacksons going through a Soldano.

For me, the idea that you need expensive stuff to sound good is bullshit. $10,000 in gear will not make me a better player

I agree with troy to an extent on not needing expensive gear.I have played some of my students mid range guitars and they sounded and played great.I find a fair few of these purist amp snobs and obscure expensive flavour of the month guitar buyers cant fucking play to save thier lives.Their logic dictates that as they have expensive gear they are better than anyone else, but real musicians know BULLSHIT
