Hey I'm going to be 21 soon so will be able to actually go places. Any of you Boston-area folks know where a guy might go to avoid a bunch of shitty hiphop? I've basically never gone out in the city at night, but have grown tired of the MIT social scene so I want to go explore a bit. Any place with live music is what I'm looking for... jazz, blues, death metal, whatever

MIT does have a good social scene. Back in the 80s (I didn't go to MIT but I lived in Boston) the school used to shell out the $$ for the alcohol and the parties. An amazing number of women used to show up from all the nearby schools and girl schools. If you had an in and weren't from MIT, it was like shooting fish in a barrel.Comment
