Damn Sis, that really sucks, but I'm sure you guys will be better off once you do find the right drummer. I wish you guys lived closer so I could hook you up with Eli. He is by far the best drummer I've ever had the privelage to work with. I sometimes feel that the rest of us aren't even worthy of his presence. I hope you can find someone just like him!

Sorry Jeri just keep plugging away until you find a right fit. Drummers are difficult to find anywhere so I'm sure its going to betougher for you in OKC OK. Time to start putting out the word/ads & auditioning and find a good match for the style of music that you play...perhaps list the influences you guys collectively all have. What I have found when looking for replacments is if you mention you arr gigging and have gigs lined up you get people show up because they want to get out playing live and really will sacrfice whats true to them just to get the gig and for a band thtas not a good thing to do in myopinion...everyone has to be on the same page.
Tim does make a good point about knowing the limitations of your band members abilities and avoid pushing them too far. On the other hand I'm too much of a perfectionist when it comes to drums and if the guy cant do what the band wants to do then you did the right thing shit canning him.shawnlutz.com

Sorry to hear it... hopefully you guys can find someone quick to fill those shoes. I waited two years to find the guys I'm in a band with now - it's really hard to find good musicians, and then add to that the problem with finding ones who like the same music you do... on top of that, personalities have to gel, and you all have to be at about the same level musically.
Hell, I'm surprised ANY bands stay together more than a few weeks!

Hey Jeri, sorry to hear about your drummer troubles. I can identify totally. Me and my other guitar player have been playing together for ten years now, and we've been through so many ups and downs caused predominantly by drummers. We've gone through at least 10 different drummers in that time. We finally found our current drummer James about 6 months ago, and not only is he the best drummer we've ever had, but he's an awesome guy, and fits in perfectly with the rest of us personality-wise. He has a job , transportation, decent equipment, makes sure his fridge is full of beer, and can pull off Dave Lombardo type shit with ease. Let's just say that after years of being pissed off and depressed about the whole thing, we're now happy as pigs in shit. My point is, I think you did the right thing. You can't let this stuff drag you down. If someone isn't cutting it, get rid of them and move on to the next one. EVENTUALLY, you're gonna find THE drummer. Hopefully it won't take you ten years!

That sux your drummer didn't work out but there are goioid drummers out there. We had a drummer one time that was the absolute perfect personality you could find for a band memeber, but was horrible behind the kit. We gave him every chance to improve and were willing to work with him. He had a kit at home and one at my basement for rehearsal, but after a year we just had to let him go.

Good stories guys. I just quit one my band today.
Cool to hear some band dramas from other fellow musicians.

Well, update...I managed to get in touch with our old drummer who left a long time ago, because the music wasn't heavy enough. Well he came heard our new stuff, and is back!! He can drum..I didn't realize quite how bad the last one was until I heard him jump in on our songs. Oh well, we'll see what happens from here
