A Great Deer Season

Deer hunting is more like "a way of life" around my house. After the season is over, I suffer a bit from "post season depression". It doesnt last long though. We spend the spring & summer prepareing for October to get here.
We had a stray cat living in our garage until today. I had the hindquarters from the button buck on ice in a cooler until I could get it to the place that makes jerky & summer sausage. The cat decided he wanted in the cooler. He sprang the lid, and the meat went bad....I hate cats.
Hey Jack... You need a Gambrel. I picked one up for $14.99. It's for hanging deer...works really well. It looks like a giant coat hanger. It has a pulley, and a rope with a stop catch in it. You just poke it through the back legs, and hoist it up.>>--HuntinDoug-->

Thanks Bro!!...... Actually, I was hunting with a guy that called me on the 2-way saying that he was back at camp starting lunch...I looked over my left shoulder to get off the ground and he was standing 75-yds up hill from me..... I shot twice and dropped him..... Ole Rodger called me back asking if I was shooting at trees.....
He will definitely be hanging on the wall!!!!
Were having a butchering party this afternoon....... There are a total of 11 deer to do.
There were a few nice bucks wacked yesterday..... Sorry about the shitty pix....

Nice buck there Jack! I missed a really big one at noon a couple weeks ago. Those older/bigger bucks are smart!
I heard about that Amish guy's buck a couple weeks ago too. I was told it's a 37 pointer. A local taxidermist that I know was originally supposed to mount it. I heard yeasterday that BassPro Shops bought it and all the rights to it for a huge amount of money...dunno if it's true or not though.
I'm hitting the woods in the morning. My buddy went this morning and had 2 bucks fighting just across the river from him. Then he said he saw a pair breeding in the middle of the road about 10:00am. We'll see what tomorrow brings>>--HuntinDoug-->

Thanksgiving was opening day, I went out in the morning, typically you see stuff the first day you don't see during the rest of the season, as the deer haven't seen or smelt any humans for a long time. first a doe and a pair of fawns come into the area and munch on the rye grass plot I planted, after 1/2 hour they left and a single doe comes in and walks right towards me and lays down about 20 yards away and just suns herself, luckily the wind was right and the sun was behind me, but she stayed there for almost an hour, finally the main herd showed up, about 8 deer, nothing all that great, a couple small bucks so I just put the gun down and waited for em to leave, this morning just about the same scenario, except the solitary doe was really nervous and she bolted into the woods, I know she didn't detect me, then I saw the culprit, a big ass coyote trotted right across the field straight to where the deer had gone, I'm not sure if I'll make rug out of it or mount it or what, It's a damn big bitch
