What are you guys smokin'? Mike can easily be replaced. Not that I have anything against him. He seems like a straight up guy from everything I've read. And he fact that he was able to put up with the Van Halen brothers all these years speaks volumes. But he isn't that great a bass player. His "solos" during the show are boring as hell. It would be great to get a bass player up there with some chops to compliment EVH. They could easily stick a couple chicks on the side singing backups like the way Crue used to and you'd never know the difference.

Correct you are. Mike does seem like a nice guy, and he's a decent musician. His bass playing is good, but not as interesting as many other bass players. I'd much rather see someone of Billy Sheehan's caliber up there, challenging Ed, instead of just backing him up.
Mike's backups are OK. Kinda gay, frankly, but they have been part of the VH sound in the past. The future? Not necessarily. There are tons of great bass players out there who can also sing great, and who would love to play for VH.
Mike's bass "solo" is an embarrassment. I never understood why they allowed that to happen in a Van Halen show.
If EVH & DLR play together, I want to be there, period. While I can think of lots of bass players who play and sing better than Michael (and probably better than Wolfie, too), I frankly don't care who's playing bass or singing backups. I never bought a Van Halen record for the bass or the backups, and I don't go to a Van Halen concert for those, either.
EVH and DLR are the key ingredients to Van Halen. Put them together, and I want to be there.

Well the bass player I play with could give Billy Sheehan a run for his money!! And after lerning some songs from the first to VH albums he was like God!! He's all over the place. I hate to tell but Michael is a Great bass player. Set back and focus on his playing-There is more there than meets the ears!!!!
Eddie is out of his fucking mind, it's official. :ROTF:
Taking "5150" a bit to serious, are we?
Taken from the musicyo/Kramer website:
"Word has it that for the “5150” guitar, EVH had asked that the serial number be 5150 coinciding with the name of his home studio, which supposedly was named after the California Department of Mental Health Section 5150:
Refers to a patient who is held against his/her will for evaluation under the authority of Welfare and Institutions Code, Section 5150, because the patient is a danger to him/herself, a danger to others, and/or is gravely disabled, e.g., unable to care for self. This written order may be placed by a law enforcement officer, County mental health worker, or an emergency physician certified by the County to place an individual on a 5150 hold"
"This ain't no Arsenio Hall show, destroy something!"
When and why did Mike get boned from the band?
Was it because of the Sammy Hagar thing?
Yes it was because he toured with Sammy and kind of slighted Eddie and Alex by doing so. I remember reading an interview with Eddie where he says he didnt really like Mikes' bass tone and preffered him lower in the mix. But the producer (Ted Templeman) kept bringing mike up in the mix to fill out the sound on the albums. Which is what he was supposed to do. So i dint get it. I loke mikes bass tone and Mike is a stand up guy and probably the only true sane one of the orginal members. lol Anyway It would interesting to see Wolgie on bass. I thought he did really well on guitar when he toured with VH in 2004. He deffinately seems to have his dads chops. It could be interesting and with Wolfie only being 15 his voice mught still be in the upper ranges to cover Mikes vocals. Just a thought. lol I'll go if the tickets arent outragously priced.
