I shipped a Roswell Pro via UPS to Oz and it was like $120+ just for shipping. The buyer asked me to declare it as warranty repairs, which I did, but I only insured it for the cost of the shipping.
      Apparently it got there ok

The Customs Form was simple to fill out - two pages to sign. One that said you authorize UPS to take it out of the country and the other that said something else which I didn't read - I think it was my copy since they were stickers just like the shipping label.

The USPS, on the other hand, has a 5-layer carbon to fill out that has 35 boxes on it that have to have some sort of info in each one.

I really hate going to the post office to ship stuff. It's not so much a hassle doing it (as compared to actually being able to get there), but when they ask "anything liquid, hazardous, perishable or fragile", I'm always tempted to say "It's only hazardous if you hold it a certain way"
And when they ask "does it need to be there by a certain day or time?" I'm always tempted to say "before it stops ticking"

*yawn* shipped an Ibanez RG620x to New Zealand priority. 278$ later

But dude REALLY wanted the guitar (it was when the FIRST piezo equipped edge trems just came out) Just like Ebay, it all comes down to how much you wanna pay for something, no matter what its value to others!

Its a shame people arent prepared to go to that extra yard to ship to out of area bidders... so you need 10 minutes to fill a form in?!?! Hell the oversea bidder USUALLY is aware of the cost for shipping, and due to supply and demand more often pay over the odds for the item anyhow.

I had my 777SK shipped in from texas without hassles, all comms via email, all parties happy.

For me, it depends on what I am selling as to whether I will or will not go international. I may lose some bidders, but there are some items that I will NOT ship overseas. There are some, however, where those pesky foreign guys will pony up the US dinero.

BloodAndTears, I hear ya, but with all the BS you can run into, concerning payment canceling, its best not to deal with it, The item I shipped to NZ, was listed USA only, but the guy emailed me and convinced me he was reliable and really needed the item, and was willing to make payment in any form I was confortable with

For example. I have a certain pair pants that we, in the US, wouldn't pay squat . But, those guys over there will just eat them up. WWW = Want, Want,Want.:ROTF: :ROTF: :ROTF: :ROTF:

i totally understand bro, there are some goons on ebay.. but thats what feedback is for imo... like i have over 100+ ebay feedback including overseas axes yet still some people cannot put the effort in despite admitting that due to exchange rates they would reap the benefits financially. instead we are left inflated uk prices, like the model 1 charvel neck that has been relisted 3 times cos he's taking the p*ss with his reserve of £70 + £10 p+p.

There's supply, there's demand, and then there is downright greed.

The issue with exchange rates, for me, as a seller doesn't matter. I live in the US and will get paid in USD. Whether other currencies are strong or weak makes no nevermind to me. If you win an item, pay for it. And if you live 13,000 miles away, be prepared to pay the shipping cost. OR DON'T BID.

you may benefit from the exchange rates in that, the cost of buying the same item is probably a lot more for an overseas bidder. The overseas buyer may be prepared to pay more than a domestic US bidder because even at a premium (and factoring in shipping, customs, etc), the item may cost less than buying it within their own country. Plus more bidders, the higher the price you'll get.

I'm usually prepared to pay ~$100+ USD in shipping for a guitar... any more than that is not that cool...

Fett, if the buyer is not smart enough to find the USPS Postal rate calculator online, send the idiot the link and remind him that packaging material has weight, due to something new called gravity. But considering that it is possibly a grown man that will be on his knees playing with the car in his living room using onomatopeia to emulate the sounds of a race car, while it runs over a Barbie doll, which represents his ex wife, one cannot expect too much.

Afterforever, that is a super low price for a flight. (I am guessing that you may be a student). Japan, for most has extremely limited holidays. For those people, a flight to Europe, during one of the 3 holiday seasons, will cost 2300 Euros. Also, for no logical reason, Japanese departure passengers are only allowd about 1/2 the weight for checked baggage as those departing from other nations.

Tommy, you would be right at home with my boys from a past life. Imagine a group of fellas named Marco, Vinny, Kiko the Wop, etc. all gacked out in Argetina. They sent me shots of them eating Argentinian BBQ- there were no plates. They had some ladies in g-strings bending over, using there behinds as a plate. If the plate moved, it got a spanking. They are there again today on vacation.
