  • Bad news for Canadians.

Apparently the newest method of smuggling cocaine into Canada, is concealing it inside electric guitars. This pretty much means that any of us having axes shipped here from elsewhere will likely receive a guitar that has been torn apart by the border nazis looking for contraband.

    Yay!!!

Well, it won't take long for it to get down here. That's just scary. It puts a new twist on "powder finish".

Wouldn't drug sniffing dogs alert them to the boxes that had the drugs in them? I can't imagine them busting open every box that has a guitar in it.

Replacing them?!?!? Hah, it will be a fucking miracle if they don't just pry them off with a screwdriver, and throw them in the trash.

ST.James is right, they have drug dogs for this sort of thing.

Its not possible to open every single long rectangular box in every truck at the border or in customs. I dont think increased searches will affect shipping trucks like UPS or DHL. Its more likely to affect suspicious individuals with a one or two guitars in the back seat trying to cross the border.

If you are planning on shipping or recieving one in Canada, remove or ask the shipper to remove the cavity covers and package the materials in a zip lock bag.

Unfortunately,we are victims of our own society, and have to make and accept inconveniences.
Bon Jovi is like a frozen Coca Cola.. It's cool, it's crunchy, but when all is said and done it is still pop....

This isn't new. Back in the 70's, swedish prog rock musicians created the "Flumbucker" - a fake humbucker whose sole purpose was to let the guitar function as a "stash" when going through customs.
